Ideas for New Coach?

Anybody have an idea of who they would most like to see coach next year? (regardless of who they pick for GM, and obviously, also assuming Nolan doesn't make it into next season..)

What good coaches are out there? Going back a year or two, I always wanted to see Michel Therrien (aka Sid 6.7) replace Lindy. That won't happen now - because of Montreal!!

Dineen. Laviollette is an interesting option but probably not the one I'd trust developing such a young group.

Surprised to see Carbonneau on this list, Zip. He was pretty bad in MTL.

Runner-up for Jack Adams the year before he got fired. He got a bit of a bum rap. Just said he's on the radar, not that he's the top choice.

Okay, I don't even know who those five are. Can I have a quick run down?

I would prefer to keep Nolan for next year if possible, but on my short list in no particular order would be...

1. Marc Crawford, 52
2. Kevin Dineen, 50
3. Peter LaViolette, 48
4. Paul Maurice, 46
5. Guy Boucher, 42

Wild Card... Phil Housley

Any current players playing this year that will retire at the end of the year that the Sabres can hire?

I wouldn't mind one of the Red Wings assistants, current or former. They've been very good at developing guys for a very long time, they have a bit of fancy passing mixed in with the grunt work. Just a good model for a franchise overall.

You mean Tom Renney? A guy I wouldn't have minded instead of Rolston?

I go hot and cold on him, and I wonder what moves will happen to this current roster to see if they're at all conducive to the type of roster/overall situation that would make him as successful of a coach.

Desjardins (Texas), Ward (Abbotsford) and Hynes (Wilkes-Barre) are all head coaches in the AHL. The last time I remember reading about Shaw was when he became the Isles' interim coach the first year after the lockout.

I know nothing about Johnston.

I would like to see what kind of GM Patty hires and the direction of the team before I think of the coach. I don't want a coach who is used to having run and gun teams, and we have a GM who wants to build a more balanced team that . I don't want a coach who is about the trap and more physical game and a GM who wants to build an up tempo and a more offensive minded lineup.

One guy who i am sure will get a interview with whom ever the new GM is is Doug Houda. And i would be shocked if Houda wasn't the new coach if Jim Benning became the GM.

There better be serious search this time. If they just rubber stamp Nolan into the job, I may lose my mind.
