Caps fans are convinced Jagr-for-E done

http://hfboards.com/showthread.php?p=749946#post749946

They're reporting all kinds of unknown sources as proof that Lindros is going for Jagr. Believe if you will.

i would take jagr but no way i do for lindros. what would be funny is if jagr got traded to a team nobody was expecting.
jagr to columbus for malhotra
jagr to calgary for kobasaw
jagr to the devils for gomez

the trade rumors board would $h!t.

ESPN's...

spewing the same crap. That would not be such a great move. I really hate this stupidity. It's almost as bad as listening to these idiots at ESPN.

Furtrher, Big E missing the Flyers game because he's a little sick? Bit weird. and 27-93-37...don't put it past Sather. Perhaps he's now thinking that Lindros is one hit away and he's making a coup for a guy who'll be a Ranger for 3 more years, as opposed to Lindros who'll be gone at year end.

It's BS fellas. Sather is looking to improve the team, trading our best player is not doing that. I'd like someone to explain to me how Sather made the trade while coaching the game.

You guys are right, trading Lindros for Jagr makes absolutely no sense. Which is why I wont be surprised when Sather trades for him.

There is only speculation because of Lindros being out in a huge game with a questionable reason coupled with the rumors. It's all BS, people putting 2 and 2 together even though it makes absolutely no sense for those in tuned with the team.

Well with the fire sale pending in Washington, at least we know we can fill all our hockey needs with easy and convenient one stop shopping:

Kolzig
Jagr
Gonchar

I'm a Lindros fan- I just hope the Rangers don't give up on him. Maybe some day somebody will figure him out. I just hope he isn't washed up by then. Who knows, he could stay healthy for several more years. I cannot understand how Sather did so well with so little money in Edmonton.

And you would have to pay me a LOT of money to fight Domi.

hehe, fair enough.

I give Lindros two more seasons before he finds his true potential again. Sorry to offend all the Rangers fans when I say this, but if he signs with Toronto as a UFA, he will be happy with where he is, and likely perform far closer to his potential. However he's doing a damn good job of it right now. I think to Lindros Toronto is home, and New York is likely #2 in his mind. But heck, #2 isn't bad at all, I think Philly'd be #30. lol

He still has some buddies in the Flyers locker room but other than that - nada.
If Lindros started in the league playing a more "disciplined" and admittedly less exciting game- he'd probably be one of if not the best in the league. He was too young and dumb to know when to pick his spots. But it sure was fun to watch him as a Flyers fan- he used to crush everyone who came near him. Nice to see him whip up on Thornton and show that he still has that edge. Any sane Flyers fan would love to see him back in orange and black.

What makes you think Lindros isn't happy here? His play certainly says otherwise, not to mention his actions and words, also the fact he renegotiated his deal to take a 100% potential paycut.

and for all the talk of how good he's been, he's on pace for like 20 goals?

How many in an 82 game season? He was crap to start it off, but there's no denying he has been dominant over the last two months.

dominant as in physical or dominant as in scoring?

In the month of january he is 5-3-8 in 11 games, so in a 77 game projection he is on pace for 56 points.

In december he scored a total of 1 goal.....1 goal.... and 12 points in 12 games, a point per game and most of them were assists when Rucinsky got hot.
october he had a point per game as well.

So if anything he's been colder in january and as of late, not hotter.

Now he's not horrible but he can't seem to put it all together every game. He's either physical and lacking scoring or scoring and lacking physical play.

And this is the guy sather built the team around. Over 82 games he is on pace for 68 points, and that is assuming he keeps balancing point per game months with subpar months.

Over the last two months he has scored 20 points in 23 games.

I'm sorry for a 30 year old first line center, making the money he and on a team with kovalev that's not acceptable for him or kovy.

too often he's needed to be shifted to rw or the team needs to be jostled around in order to make the "investment" seem a little less pathetic.

for a combined 8 million, i expect more than 20 goals from two 30 year old "core" players.

Not if you ask Gretzky or Messier or any of the players on the Championship teams.

Sather was great at one thing. Putting together a group of kids and letting them grow together and develop as a group.(And if you go further, he kept the team afloat when he had no budget.)

NY was not a good situation for Sather because when you go to NY the "WIN NOW" mentality was never anything that Sather had any experience with.

I suggested at the time that Sather went to NY, he would have been far better off in Phoenix.

Sather won't succeed in NY because the ownership has no interest in developing a team with a long term strategy. They want to take the shortest route between where they are and the Cup and will use whatever resources necessary to do it.

We can all agree on one thing that a team may be sprinkled with expensive free agent aquisitions, but can't be made up of them.
