Best Possible Lines

Samsonov-Koivu-Kovalev
Perezhogin-Pleks-Higgins
Latendresse-Bonk-Johnson
Streit-Lapierre-Ryder

Line 1: Koivu will get these two going, and fast! We've seen the chemistry Koivu and Kovalev have before...why doesn't Carb reunite them!?

Line 2: The speed! Perez's play has warranted him a spot on the top two lines. Although it's hard to break up the first and third lines, I think it needs to be done and just after the Christmas break is a good time to experiment a little.

Line 3: Mostly the same, move Lats up for another big body presence. It would also help him develope his defensive game early.

Line 4: Ryder...this guy needs to sit or be demoted. Countless bonehead plays, puck hogging, shoddy defense. This guy isn't doing what he's on this team for, consistant scoring. Play him on the PP.

Why?
Not saying that I disagree with you, but I want to know why you would.

I'd like to see Carbonneau experiment with a speed line of Perezhogin and Plekanec with Samsonov. Streit would replace Perezhogin on Bonk's line. Kovalev would replace Ryder on Koivu's line. Latendresse and Ryder would play with Bégin. This reorganization wouldn't make a perfect world but it would take opponents a while to adjust to it. Right now the team looks stale and the opponents have learned to defend against it.

Ryder has been playing with Koivu and Higgins, while Sammy has been playing with the ever difficult to play with Kovalev and not nearly as skilled Plex. That being said here is what I propose.

Higgins Koivu Kovalev
Perezhogin Plekanec Latendresse
Samsonov Bonk Johnson
Begin Lapierre Streit / Ryder

Several things need to happen in my opinion

1. No more Sammy and Kovy on the same line
2. No more Ryder on the first line.
3. Latendresse needs more playing time, he's been playing good, much better than Ryder or Sammy.

We need Change, I think these lines can work, we keep the Bonk and Johnson tandem together Put our great Plex and Zhogs combo from the playoffs back together (replacing Zednik with Lats). And hopefully get Kovy going with the only person that seems to be able to in Saku.

Ryder's points come from playing with Saku.
Sammy's points come from playing with Plekanec.

Sammy needs to play with Koivu.

Or you know, maybe bring up Garth Murray on the first line and first PP unit!! lol I play EHM and my lines stopped producing just like the real Habs...so i expiremented and finally put Murray on the first line with Koivu and Kovalev and guess what!? He won the Art Ross and then MVP award!!!

before anything, I would give Grabovski a try on the second, he can't be worse than Plekanec... well, unless he's terrible defensively, which I can't tell since I've seen him only a few times.

Perezhogin-Koivu-Kovalev
Higgins-Plekanec-Johnson
Samsonov-Bonk-Ryder
Latendresse-Begin-Streit

To be honest, I don't think the 'untouchable' first and third lines have been overly amazing in the past 5-6 games and I think we need to find combinations that will have all lines performing.

I say, role these lines and, after the first period or so, find out which is having the best night and play it as your #1 line for the night. I think each of the top three lines has a bit of game breaking ability (Koivu/Kovalev, Higgins, Samsonov/Ryder).

Also, the PP should not just put line #1 and line #2 on the ice, but have two sets of forwards like it did a few games ago:

Ryder-Koivu-Kovalev
Samsonov-Higgins-Latendresse

Those are two good PP units along with Markov/Souray and Rivet/Streit.

Was thinking the same, pretty sure it won't happen but such a line would be crazy fast, up and down all night, would be fun to watch

Samsonov-Koivu-Kovalev
Higgins-Latendresse-Ryder
Johnson-Bonk-Perezhogin
Lapierre/Murray-Plekanec-Streit
Begin (when he comes back...)

How about this? i think Latendresse's size and playmaking abilities would serve him well in the middle. I wouldn't want Higgins in the middle, I want him on the wing scoring goals.

To be honest, I think we're near the point where we need a trade or two.

Best possible lines do not include Mark Streit on, as he would be featured on "Best Possible Pairings".

Higgins-Koivu-Kovalev
Perezoghin-Johnson-Ryder
Samsonov-Bonk-Latendresse
Begin-Plekanec-Lapierre (three guys to take faceoffs is a very good asset on a 4th line, mind you...)

Or maybe switch Lats for Begin... the 3rd got a better "worker" and the 4th got a better scorer.

Can Lats win a faceoff or play defense without relaying on the boards?
