I think Boyle's problem is that he doesn't like to get hit and he is not mean enough to fist fight with another man.

I'm not far behind in the "Staal fan club" category (I argued as recently as this preseason that Staal at his best is as good/better than McD). That said, Staal has not been "solid" this season in any way. He was absolutely putrid during the opening month of the season. He got back to average for a few games after that (including a couple of games where he really did look like his old self). Then he's been back to putrid for the last few.

For a guy that important to the team, only having a handful of games that aren't horrible is a problem. They need to get him sorted out (note--I am not advocating trading him--yet. He has earned the right to more time to figure things out).

Beyond that--this was just a fantastic game. I was thrilled for Kreider more than anything else (even though I don't blame Torts for his problems last year. Frankly, I think AV sending him down was the wake up call he needed. It showed him that it WASN'T just Torts who had a problem with the way he was playing).

I also thought Girardi had his best game of the season.

What was up with Hagelin? He barely played.

Moving Richards to the wing and Brass to top 6 was a good move by AV. Glad he agrees with my post last night.

Falk needs to engage Kassian or Sestito.
Girardi - McD was awesome.
DZ played a good game on the left side.

Little known fact, the Rangers play a different D in front of Talbot than in front of Hank.

Kreider - Stepan - Nash unreal.
Zuke and Brass with strong games as well.

Backups always get more support. The team feels they need to step it up when they are not at their max. That's why a lot of goalies look really good as backups, but then collapse when they become starters.

Great job Krieder! Nice to see Richards on the wing!!!

Great job by Dorsett for fighting Sestito! He saw Seatito taking runs and stood up for his teammates. That's not a fight some would want to pick in a blow out. True teammates do that! Dorsett earned major props for that!

Boyle is as close to a faceoff specialist that the Rangers have. He matches up well on the dots against some of the best guys in the league in this aspect. The way he wins his draws is so unorthodox, he gets down so low its almost likes he's taking a faceoff in lacrosse or something. Weird but usually effective.Winning Face-offs are crucial to winning games.

Cam gets more goal support than Hank because he plays against the weaker teams. A lot harder to get 4 goals a game against good teams.

Hagelin is going to score a bit less if he plays on the third line with Moore and Zucc. That's an inevitability. Its also fine provided we continue to have good balance.

The Rangers are in a pretty good spot. Despite all the **** at the beginning of the season, and being only 14-13, the Rangers are tied for 2nd in the division, a great spot to be in considering how the playoffs work and the way the Atlantic looks this year.

10 games at home, and 17 on the road so far. If the Rangers can string together a good homestand here like 9-3, 8-4, it's a great opportunity to get some separation and get climbing in the standings.

On another bright point, the Rangers are tied with the Caps for second. Caps have just 7 ROW, Rangers have 14

Let's get going here!

The problem with Boyle isn't that he doesn't fight well. Its that he has the balance of a drunken midget, the turning ability of a 747 on a tarmac, the skating explosiveness of a fart, and the hands of someone with parkinson's disease.

His athleticism is what has held Boyle back as a player.

After the 2nd goal, I could feel a Kreider hat trick coming. He just had that desire to shove it down Torts throat. Kreider doesn't seem like the smartest guy in the world, maybe someone can convince him that Torts coaches 29 teams so he puts up a hat trick every game lol

Biron is so well worth listening to for his analysis.

Edit: and saying exactly what I thought yesterday and in the games in Florida
