Maybe we can trade Ninima for him?

Speculation on the Oilers board that this may lead to another forward off of their roster being traded for a D-Man. Any other bodies of interest from their roster? Lead up to a larger trade? Habs were specifically mentioned in the Oilers board discussion on this possibility.

haha, damn. I picked him up in my fantasy league hoping he'd go to Ottawa.

I just now dropped him.

Fanhome has Stoll for Souray. But would this be a good deal for the Habs? Also, there must be another deal from Montreal's point of view. Maybe, Ryder for a defenseman? Such as Brewer or Boynton? Comments?

Stoll and Bergeron would be fair. Stoll is a nice young player.

Souray would be a great fit in Edmonton - and a hometown boy to boot. I'm not sure I can say the same about Stoll in Montreal though. Still, he's a pretty good player, but I'm not sure he's exactly what we need.

Why laugh? It would be a steal to get Stoll for Souray straight up. Adding Ryder and Bergeron makes it alittle more fair. Don't forget Sheldon is UFA and Ryder is a year from the same. Stoll is where Chipchura will be in 5 years with more offense.

WHAT?!

Souray is one of the best offensive d-men in the league. The guy is an all-star.

Stoll is a good third line center.

What the hell are you smoking?!?

That "third line center" has 6 points less than our first line center, and he's playing on a worse team.

Souray is UFA at the end of the year.

I'd call it a steal too.

You obviously don't understand how the NHL works now? Stoll is years away from UFA and more than likely a good 2nd line center- Souray is 6 months away from UFA and will command 5+million next season. Start factoring salaries when proposals are made before making a fool out of yourself.

You are the one who doesn't understand how it works. Winning teams with a chance at the Cup do NOT trade their all-star inpending UFA, they try to ACQUIRE losing teams all-star inpending UFA for a playoff run. There is NO CHANCE IN HELL that Bob trades Souray.

First of all I never said I wanted to trade Souray. I was commenting on the rumour posted by someone else. If it came to pass, I think it would be a steal for Montreal to get Stoll for Souray straight up. Stoll and Ryder were absolute magic in Hamilton.

Ok, but still, It'd be a dumb move. You MAYBE solve a problem by dealing a great asset while you are winninng. And btw, it wouldn't be a steal even considering Souray's contract. Souray is 10x more useful than Stoll could be.

As of July 1st- how useful is Souray going to be?? If we aren't making a cup run this year and Souray isn't resigned before the deadline-what's best for the team?

I personally would hold on to him unless something too good to turn down comes up. Stoll would do it for me, but maybe it's because I get to see him play more than you do- not sure. What in your opinion is Souray worth?

I'd do a Souray for Stoll deal from a Habs standpoint.

I would do it too, but I'm not so sure the Oilers would at this point. In the past couple of weeks, Stoll has been their best player, and is really one of the best value players that they have. I'm not sure that they would trade away a player who has grit, who will perhaps one day be a NHL captain, for a UFA defenseman. Of course, Souray would tremendously help their powerplay for the remainder of the season, and maybe give them the lift they need to get into the playoffs, but I'm not sure they would be willing to give up so much on their future.

Souray is exactly the type of player they need though. Somebody who can play huge minutes, support the powerplay, and move the puck up. I wouldn't be surprised if he was moved there, provided the package is reasonable for both teams.

I thought this thread was about Nedved. I think he will be a good fit for edmonton, which position does he play?

Souray is a offensive dynamo for our team and he is the reason why we have the #1 ranked PP in the NHL. Defensively he is so-so, but he leads so many offensive category league wide and can be effective on both the PK and the PP. Plus, we all know that Souray is a big time leader in the room, he is ready to throw them to defend teammates. He is a big, I mean a REALLY BIG part of our team right now. Losing Souray could be a huge blow to that team.

I love Stoll too, he is a right-handed center, he is great on face-off, he can play the point on the powerplay and he has a great one-timer. He would be a perfect fit, but can he add more to that team than Souray right now?
