I was just coming on here to say this.

Seriously, **** SportsNet. They have 1:03 for the highlights of tonight's game, and they spend 0:39 seconds on the guy messing up the anthem.

Then, "Starting in the third.."

We get 12 years of this.

**** off.

I know I could probably search around for the scouting reports but can anyone tell me why Chase wasn't picked until the 7th round? Seems like the kinda guy who teams are always looking for with his combination of skill and agitation.

On the prospects board, I'm seeing some people putting Chase on the 4th line for Team Canada. I've never seen him play, any chance for him to make it? That would make for a steal of a 7th rounder.

I would put his chances at slim to none. There are simply too many high profile players out there that could make the team, and more established grinders. Also, typically in the past the guys that are picked to play on the shutdown lines have been pencilled in months before, so it's not much of a surprise.

If he gets back to scoring at the pace was at to begin to the season hed have an ok shot assuming TC chooses to take an agitator. Not sure who the other good CHL agitators are. He is likely on there radar more after his two goal game.

It would be incredible if Chase made team Canada.
And it's certainly not impossible, they always seem to bring a few late round guy or even undrafted guys.

Last year we saw JC Lipon, who went undrafted in his draft year.

2012:
Gallagher - 5th Round
Mark Stone - 6th Round
Tanner Pearson - Undrafted
Freddie Hamilton - 5th Round

2010:
Gabriel Bourque - 5th Round
Brandon Kozun - 7th Round
Stefan Della Rovere - 7th Round

2009 (the last gold):
Stefan Della Rovere - 7th Round
Jamie Benn - 5th Round
Chris DiDomenico - 6th Round

Why the hell did Labarbera get back to back starts with OKC? Anyone know what the hell is going on with that team? Just traded for Brossoit, yet they don't want to play him? WTF is wrong with this org...

I guess they would rather try to further develop a crappy, 33 year old journeyman goalie.

That is because our team doesn't know how to develop players.

Which is also why the 4 defence pairings are being rotated out in OKC so every 4th game 2 of Klefbom, Marincin, Davidson, Fedun, Gernat, Musil and Hunt sit. I'm pretty sure other teams don't develop their prospects that way. I don't get why they don't just send Gernat and Musil down to the ECHL.

If they could find somebody to take Potter that would be ideal.

There is always things that pull against each other in the minors.

1) Want to develop young players.

2) Coach wants to have a good record because most minor league coaches have aspirations for the NHL. As much as one would like to look at a minor league coach just for how he develops young players, wins, losses and championships matter.

3) Want the minor league team to be good so that they draw and make money or don't lose a lot.

The oilers are always concerned with the last one. The coaches are concerned with the 2nd one. Not enough is done about the 1st one.

I never got why they would play Lander/Pitlick/Martindale on the 3rd and 4th line. Looks like this finally changed a bit with MacT as Lander finally got the push but the D needs to be cleared so Klefbom + Marincin/Gernat/Davidson get ample playing time.

It makes no sense, once Bachman gets healthy Brossoit will battle it out with Bunz for ice in Bakersfield because we need to keep LOLbarbara sharp!

There was supposed to be a change in mentality when MacT took over, let's hope that he gets in Nelson's ear and tells him that Klefbom, Marincin, Martindale, etc. play every damn game from here on out unless they dog it.

Problem solved. They sent Kessy down, why not those D too? Why not use the ECHL as a developmental tool for players other than goalies?

The ECHL seemed to work well as a springboard for Davidson last year after coming back from cancer treatment.

Khaira also had a pair of assists, Brossoit had a good night in OKC and Lander continues offensively now 9-6-15 in 17gp after a slow start offensively.

Marco Roy with a goal in a 5-4 shootout lost, 3G 12A in 13 games this season.
Greg Chase pots another 2G, leading Med. Hat 4-1.

Two prospects with a last-gasp effort for TC?

Good for Chase. If he can keep it up, I'm excited most about him because his style of play is what we need. And he's a centre.

Not sure how he didn't make it with his season but that's a huge let down.

Really surprised at the omission of Nurse. By all accounts he has been one of the best defensemen in the OHL.

I just think he didn't fit in.
Not reliable enough as a shutdown d, not skilled enough as an offensive d.

I do think his skating and stick would have looked good on the big ice though.
