So, does he stay with his junior squad, or can he now join Hamilton?

And I beat both of you.

He should stay in the Q. There's no room in the AHL.

This will end up being a wasted contract.

Limited skills and not a great fighter.

He stays until next season, or the end of the PEI one.

signing is fine - between fournier, Nevins, crisp. McCarron, etc...
habs trying to find young enforcers, power forwards, etc...
it's the way to go instead of signing parros, laraque etc..

would love to have reaves or boll on our team

I am liking some of the comments on this thread.

So we should just move forward and plan on Reway and Andrighetto to be our PK specialists?

To be a successful team, you need role players. It helps that this kid has size, grit and plays on the PK. We already have enough undersized and soft prospects.

If his ceiling is a 4th liner who is effective on the PK and is willing to drop the gloves, then awesome. We have been lacking players like this for too long.

This guy could potentially be taking a guy like Brady Vail's contract spot though and Vail has a much higher chance of being a 4th liner who is effective on the PK. We also have Fournier, Crisp, potentially DLR, and Dumont to play the PK in Hamilton next season on contracts that count towards the 50 limit. These are normally the type of signings you make with AHL deals like Courtnall, Aliu, MacAulay and Macenauer are/were on. Nothing suggests this guy has more NHL potential than our ECHL level players.

We've already got ~17 contract spots committed to non-roster spots next year and haven't signed Vail, Thrower, Crisp, Nystrom or Bennett yet. Lehkonen and DLR also aren't signed with their current clubs beyond this season and could potentially play in Hamilton as 19 year olds if we feel it's best for their development. If you're going to give a guy like this an ELC you couldashoulda at least wait and see how much room you have instead of having to work around his contract.

It's obvious that Bergevin has a plan regarding our prospects and who stays and who gets traded and who gets released.

Our prospect pool is full of non-physical players. It appears Bergevin is taking a different direction than what our previous soft regimes did.

And I love it.

You should send this post to Bergevin...I'm sure the subtleties of managing an NHL organization escape him...

The Hawks had tons of preventable contractual issues so it would not surprise me.

Late bloomer. There are a ton of gritty bottom 6ers in the NHL that have gone undrafted.

Cmon man. You cant say that with any certainty.

Look at all the posts that pumped up Avtsin, Archambault, Fortier, Fischer, Maxwell etc and so on.

Then look at the 9th round picks named Halak and Streit.

Any prospect is just that........a prospect. At least this one can add something to this organization that is lacking.

Give it some time before you declare him a bust.

So, from reading this thread, shall I say: meh?

Also, pretty much agree with SH above, the more you have, the more your odds of finding a good one go up.

He doesn't protect himself that well in fights but he has heart. He faced the guy who TKO'd Tinordi and did much better. Didn't win but McGuire is a pure goon.

Has no issues facing giants:

He is also producing offensively this season.

This pretty much the exact stuff i heard about Crisp when he was drafted.
Obviously Crisp is not a lock for an NHLer but he looks WAY better than all the bellyaching on here made him out to be.

We can definitely use some role players with size and grit. Sounds like he's worth a shot. Obviously he's not going to take away freaking Lehkonen's or some other proper prospect's roster spot for crying out loud.

I'm sure Bergevin and Dudley have already thought about that...amazing how some people think they can do a better job...lol. I'd like to see their reaction when you show up at the Bell Center and tell them what you just wrote
