Not meant to take anything away from Corvo, he has been playing well.

However Joe isn't the future and MacLean has to find the balance between developing the young guys and playing the veteran guy night after night.
It's funny because I say they same thing after most of your posts. I agree BUT a little veteran presense right now might help calm the nerves of our shaky young defensemen. The young guys need to be relieved of some pressure right now, they are much better than they are showing to this point. Corvo wasn't playing near enough.

The only thing I like about his game is how he shoots the puck, that's it.

We're better when our D can move the puck. Corvo and Wiercioch should be in the line up in front of Gryba.

I also gives offensive support from the back for our two first lines. When Karlsson is not on the ice, we rarely have any sustained pressure in the offensive zone and very few shot from the point. Wiercioch and Corvo are good to find the shooting lanes.

Oh come on he skated the puck out of our zone on many occasions, I don't have to remind you about our troubles moving the puck out of our zone. Prolonged pressure in our zone is his problem IMO.

Sorry but when you trade your first round pick, it means you're trying to win. If Corvo is one of our best 6 d, he should be playing every night.

And if developing the young guys really was the #1 priority, Cowen would be in the A, and Weircioch would have been given a legitimate chance to succeed.

Yeah I don't get it why Wier gets benched. He's played better than Cowen and Gryba yet he sits. I'd go with the following:

Methot - Karl
Wier - Gryba/Cowen
Phillips - Corvo

A balanced approach. If Cowen plays, then Wier plays on the right side.

He should be playing every game. Limit his minutes when he's playing bad, increase them when he's playing well.

Exactly. I also think Wier wasn't as bad on the right side as it was made out to be. The team was losing so the thought was that he was struggling when in reality, the whole team was struggling in the defensive zone.

Methot-Karlsson
Cowen-Wiercioch
Phillips-Corvo

If Cowen-Wiercioch lower their decision making time, it makes up for their lack of footspeed.

Corvo has looked pretty good, the element he brings is one the blueline desperately needs. I just wonder how responds after he ****s up gloriously, and at some point he will **** up gloriously. He's Joe Corvo.

Hopefully it doesn't destroy him like it has in the past.

You're right, he will **** up at some point... Just like every single player on every single team will.
