Gretzky in talks with Rangers about "coming back to hockey in some capacity"

Quote:
‏@Hope_Smoke
Mckenzie "there has been dialogue between the Leafs, Rangers, Capitals, Kings and Gretzky about coming back to hockey in some capacity"
Mckenzie was on TSN Radio earlier tonight. Also sounded confident that Del Zotto will be moved. Interested in seeing what news comes of this.

fill messier's vacated roll of being in on things within the organization and watching other teams play occasionally?

Well, let's see, Richards is going to be amnestied next year and Brassard might not be back...we do need a Center....

Will he bring his smokeshow of a daughter with him?

I wouldn't mind giving him a few million on a 1 year deal.

NOOOOOOOOO

If Dolan won't fire Slats he'd never fire Gretzky.

Best player ever is offering to associate professionally with the franchise. I don't see a downside.

Not even The Great One can help Boyle score

It's not like they are going to make him an asstitant coach so i don't see the problem with the greatest player ever being in the organization in a non-coach capacity.

There is no front office vacancy with the Rangers. Messier didn't see a future in the front office and made a pitch to become head coach.

as long as he is straight up window dressing, I agree.

if he's looking to lend insight to how a team is built or the type of players we should target, big pass.

Not only that, but even if there were, theres thousands of people out there more qualified for a front office job than Wayne Gretzky.

I'm rapidly getting to the point where I wish all these old timers would just go away, Sather inculded. Gretzky made a mess of the Coyotes & now he will help Sather make a bigger mess in NY.

Second greatest.

Why would anyone not want Gretzky here?

I totally disagree. I think his record in running Phoenix is looked upon as far worse than it really was.
