Calling Alfie greedy is ridiculous. He deferred salary to bring in a player at the deadline and his entire time here he made less than the other top players who he often outplayed-but never out earned. But he has self respect and didn't like to be taken for granted.

It would be great to see Alfie back in the fold, but I think that ship has sailed.

Darren Dreger said that Alfie will almost certainly work for some team post playing career. Maybe if Alfie no longer trusts Melnyk he didn't see that happening here and Leeder said that it was no slam dunk that Alfie would have been offered a position even had he stayed.

Maybe Detroit or Boston are teams where he could see a future after he hangs up the skates.

He could be the oldest player in the league next year. Good for him if he can pull it off. I hope he gets 2 Stanley Cups.
