I hope he gets a game, but knowning his luck, he'll be in the PB for the 7-10 days, which is a shame, he's been playing really well in the AHL, on a supposedly bad Hamilton team.

Heres hoping he plays tommorow against the 'nucks.

shaggy is hurt too isn't he? That is what BBO's thread says.

I expect Roy to play tomorrow.

Trial by fire...

The way the callups usually go, he will just sit in the press box and watch until he is sent down.

You know what. They should play him. Even if he's not the answer maybe he can show that he can be 12-15 minute guy and could have value in a trade. Give him sheltered minutes if possible.

Look at the Canucks. They had brutal injury trouble and Edler and Coulombe filled in fine. Give Roy a chance.

They will play him, they have no other option...with both Smid and Tjarnqvist injured, and our remaining dmen in the lineup already.

With both Smid and Shaggy out, Kevin Lowe will be making a move within the week (I hope).

Roy is nice, but he's not going to be the difference.

I don't like wishing injury on anyone, but if an injury keeps Shaggy off the ice, all the better.

I know everyone hates Shaggy, but I fail to see how Roy being in the line up instead of him, makes the Oilers better

I agree... except I'd replace Shaggy with Smid in that sentence.

It's a draw for me.

I'd rather neither of them be in the lineup, really.

We won't know until we give him a shot! We've all seen how the "experienced" players are playing this year. Lets also not forget that Cross & Ulanov were experienced players, and I'd take Roy over them anyday. It's just to bad MacT doesn't know how to handle (trust) rookies....he'll just end up screwing Roy up.

Frankly, after watching the last few games, I hope Greene gets a night off eventually to settle down as he is faltering quite badly since at least the Christmas break.

He was on for 3 of the 5 goals against last night and the penalty box for another.

He was okay against Florida, but everyone was.

He was on for 2 of the 4 goals against in Calgary.

He was on for 2 goals against vs. Vancouver.

He was on for 2 goals against vs. LA (though one was PK).

Granted pretty much everyone has sucked lately, but you could tell he was frustrated last night.

Agreed 110% this kid deserves a shot. If he doesn't get it right now, the Oilers should be ashamed of themselves. And while Tjarnqvist is said to be injured, it wouldn't surprise me one bit if he is rushed back into the line-up and that Roy gets screwed.

Roy seems like the obvious choice. We have Hejda and Greene in the lineup, and Roy has the most pro experience. Also, let's not forget, with all the attention on our WBS players, Roy has been playing very well in Hamilton this year, and was the best defenceman at camp who didn't start the season in Edmonton.

You're right. Look at MacT's history of screwed up young players: Hemsky, Smid, Greene, Horcoff, Stoll, Torres, Brewer, Comrie. They're all bums.

I'd be curious to see which NHL coaches/teams people think handle rookies the "right" way.

At least Roy will be physical. If he plays within himself and uses his body, he's probably going to be more effective than Tjarnqvist.

Wow DB, you have a serious hate on for Smid. Even if we agreed that Smid=Tjarnqvist (Smid is tons better IMO) its better to have Smid in the lineup than Shaggy cause Tjarnqvist has maxed out his potential, and Smid is gaining experience and improving.

What a waste of 1.6 million bucks Tjarnqvist was!
