Man, from the goalie's size to the size of his gear... to his positioning... that is why you can't compare eras in hockey...

Imagine PK taking slapshots at the poor guy...

Also, there's an anarchist in the crowd: Far right, 5th/6th row. Orange shirt in a sea of gray = Lil' punk smoking opium.

Depends. Does he have the same training he does now, same nutrition and equipment, etc?

Today's players are definitely leaps and bounds above what we had in the 50's, but they also have a plethora of advantages that weren't common back then.

However if you took present day Subban with his composite stick and his intense training schedule, transplant him directly into the 40's-60's, yeah, he'd score a ton, probably at will.

Akin to giving a WW1 soldier a present day automatic rifle. It would be devastating.

Here's an interesting GIF I saw today. Dryden getting a little help from his friends:

Especially the goalies. Man, they were tough SOBs. That said, they had flat blades back then. The puck didn't go high as much and as often as we see today.

People knew how to dress when they went out back then. Class all around.

True, they all had suits.

Look at this bad boy :

Quote:
Splendid Maurice Richard personal lot includes a salt and pepper sports jacket that includes a nifty "A. Gold & Sons" label sewn in the lining, with the Rocket's scripted name embroidered. A label inside the inner pocket features a "27-1-89" date and "M. Richard." Size is 48, condition is excellent and there's even a breath mint and pack of matches in one of the outer pockets! Jacket will come in a leatherette suit bag that features "Les Anciens Canadiens - M.R." in gold lettering. With handles at each end and also in excellent shape. A letter of authenticity from the Richard family will be included with these neat unique pieces.

First pick: you own the suit? Not sure if I understand what's happening there. On anther note; a leather suit bag? Killer.

Most of the guys in the background, look like little Gary Bettman's...

My mom actually dated one of Maurice's sons in highschool for a while Probably one of those two in the picture. Paolo was his name IIRC. Told me about some stories of Maurice's trophy rooms and whatnot. Some cool stuff

Jacques Plante would have no trouble taking a shot from PK. He's the greatest Habs goalie ever and one of the top 2-3 in the history of hockey. He did play until the early 70's.

This is a pic of a Habs - Leafs game in the early 60's.

Notice how thin the payers back then used to look (probably from deficient nutrition)
and how freakin' big the puck used to be. Back then they used a frozen pumpkin
wich they painted black and flattened a bit. They also used quite big hockey sticks
wich resembled closely a 2 X 4.
Man have we evolved since then!!

I like how they all smile for no reason. Hockey players don't know how to smile and play hockey nowadays.
