I'm waiting for the 'Orpik launched himself into the ice then Thornton had a glove malfunction' excuse

Dr. Recchi has already accused Brook's of faking it and has cleared him to play...

This will (should) be 20 games but who knows with Soupy Jr and the JJ connection

Leafs stealing another victory after being badly outshot. They're quite good at this, gotta give 'em that.

So the Leafs give up 100 shots against in their last 2 games and get 4 points out of it. Lucky ba****ds.

2nd consecutive game Toronto has given up 50+ shots. Will likely do it tomorrow, too.

Detroit and Tampa both lost tonight which is nice, helps us create a little separation at the top of the standings

Spin doctors already pulling strings

Shawn Thornton was near tears as he apologized for his attack on Brooks Orpik.

http://beta.thescore.com/nhl/news/375899

"I made a mistake," Thornton said. "I can't say I'm sorry enough times. That's all I can say right now."

Added the Bruins pugilist: "It was definitely awful. It's not what you want to see. It's not what anybody wants to see. I've felt sick all game."

Bruins fans will now say he's a gutless punk

December 2, 1995: Patrick Roy allows 9 goals before being pulled and promptly quits the Montreal Canadiens saying the coach was trying to humiliate him.
December 5, 2013: Semyon Varlamov allows 8 goals and is left in the net by Patrick Roy.
Priceless.

Per Bruins Twitter.

Eriksson suffers a concussion and Kelly injured from a slash. Both not traveling with team

Oh man. I am going to cry so much about the poor Bruins

I just listened to McKenzie talk about the Thornton incident and how Orpik chose to not have to fight outside of his weight class for a borderline 2 minute penalty hit and it kind of reminded me of Scott vs Kessel. This is the league's chance to crack down on goons going after non goons and making it clear that the NHL won't condone it.

From that perspective, I could see a suspension closer to 30 games instead of 20.

Have no sympathy for the Bruins as a team, but I get no joy at Eriksson or Kelly being hurt. Eriksson in particular has had a very tough time adjusting to Boston's style and has had to deal with his second concussion on top of it. I'm glad the trade isn't working out for Boston, but not happy about the injuries.

Thornton, on the other hand, can **** himself for his actions. Inexcusable.

Thorthon is only sorry because he knows a long suspension is coming.

WHat did he say? He's sorry for the outcome? What did he expect when he slewfoot Orpik and punch him 2-3 times on the head on a defenseless player? You're saying you didn't want to hurt him?

And Boston fans saying Orpik should have accepted to fight the goon and by denying it, Thornton basically have no choice to do this? What a joke.

Reminds me of this:

Once again Boston leading the league in controversial plays, for and against.

Don't visit the Bruins board unless you want to be reminded how messed up some people in Boston are.
