That sucks, I was wondering why he wasn't in the lineup today.

He's on his way to equaling least years points in half the gagner. If he had gotten PP time last season and scored 55-60 points he may have been talked about as being in the same tier as Jones.

How many ES points does he have?

I was at the game, don't forget he was the first shooter in the shoot out and scored, very nice shot.

I was watching the game on Shaw and Moroz starts his shootout attempt, comes across the blueline and the game cuts to another program. I'm like "WTF!" and look to see the clock had just struck 9:00pm (I'm in BC). I was pissed but luckily they put the game back on a few minutes later so I got to see Jarry shut the door twice and Petryk's winning snipe top corner.

Good to know Moroz' shootout goal was a good one too.

Dillon Simpson with a PP goal tonight
Khaira with a goal, an assist, and +3 in a 6-0 win.
Chase' +1 with an assist

Found out why Houck's missed the last 2 games, he's waiting for the league to hand out a suspension for a hit he had on Wednesday (he only got 2 min for charging on the play and went on to score the game winner).

Ben Betker the forgotten man had a pair of goals and is now tied for Everett's team lead in defense scoring with SJ Sharks 1st round pick Mirco Mueller.

With almost half the season done, Nurse has 32 points in 29 games. And its on pace for 75 points over 68 games

Here are some other CHL drafted D and their highest point totals

Dougie Hamilton: 72 points
Griffin Reinhart: 36 points
Seth Jones: 56 in 61
Morgan Reilly: 54 in 60
Alex Pietrangelo: 53 in 60
Derrick Pouilot: 52 (2013 prorated)
Drew Doughty- 74 in 67
Cam Fowler: 55 in 55- PPG
Chris Pronger (why not): 77 in 61
Shea Weber: 41 in 55

(These stats were quickly researched, its just the highest point totals, doesn't take into account draft year or team played on)

It remains to be seen if he can keep up his current pace, but if he can, his numbers are extremely impressive. Even if he puts up 60 that's still a big leap

That was Hamiltons 2nd OHL season, in his 3rd he has 41 in 32, so 87 point pace
Doughty was in his second season
Jones was his draft year
Reilly was 3rd season
Pronger was 3rd
AP posted similar ppgs in his 2nd and 3rd seasons. However I missed his 4th season, he was on a 75 point pace

That was his first year after the draft. Same as Nurse's current year.

Hamilton's 72 points also came in 50 games though. Nurse's 50 game pace would be 55 points. Hamilton absolutely destroyed the OHL in his post-draft seasons.

True, I was in a rush so I missed some guys who played fewer game. I don't expect Nurse to be anywhere as good as Hamilton/ Rielly tho. As offense is their calling card.

I think Nurses point totals are a big inflated due to a strong team + more PP time + a bit of luck likely

But if he is to become a top pairing D in the NHL, he has to first put up offense in junior which he is doing

Horak is playing quite well today- 1G, 2A so far. He has 3G and 4 points in his last 2 games.
Rimmer is doing good as well. I wonder if he gets an ELC from the Oilers in the off-season.

I think Nurse's increase in points is indeed tied to the bolded part, as his actual even strength numbers this year have dropped I believe. He'll chip in with a few points but a mobile, gritty (a truly gritty one, not the pretenders we've enjoyed the pleasure of watching over the last few years) defensive D man is his likely role at the NHL. It's pretty tough to tell if his offensive instincts will translate -- many offensive D-men in junior just do not get past the AHL.

yeah nurse's offence hasn't really increased from last year, he is just getting more PP time... his ES scoring is essentially the exact same... a gritty #3 guy who isn't a blackhole offensively is what i expect from nurse at the NHL level... something similar to smid, but maybe with *slightly* more offence, but not too much more i wouldn't think

(jesus that smid trade was just unforgivable)

I would like to see comparable D EV strength numbers in the OHL and how they compare to Nurses. I don't expect Nurse to see much PP time in the NHL, but its still promising to see him put up points when provided with PP time as it shows he does have some offensive ability.

I would more like him to work on his defensive game tho and work on preventing his brain farts he has.

I agree his role will be a defensive D, but its encouraging to see him put up some points offensively as well.

I wonder how his EV strength minutes have changed as well. He is getting a lot more PP time, and playing 1st PK minutes, so maybe his EV strength minutes have decreased as a result. Hes also entrusted to be the #1 shutdown D onthat team, so I would imagine offense isn't the primary concern for him when hes one

But yeah that Smid trade was horrible and didn't address any areas of need, while weakening already horrible back end

Don't let games against garbage teams blindfold you. If you think the oilers are playing fine, you haven't been watching or you have a loose understanding of fine.

I think Petry's play without Smid speaks dividends.
