Canucks fan coming in peace.
If Edler was willing to waive his NTC, would you guys do this?

Edler for Erat, Orlov, and Kuznetsov

That is a ridiculously steep price.

I'm aware of the high price.
Edler is young and signed to a very good contract. There's the risk of Orlov bolting before Jan. 1st, as well as Kuznetsov never coming over from Russia (he also seems to have a shoulder problem).

Orlov is gonna remain if he gets playing time in the bigs and Kuznetsov is about 85% certain to come over in the spring.

So that's a Top 6 Winger, a Top 4 Potential D Prospect, and a Top 6 (expected to start right away here) F prospect for a Top 4 D-Man?

I know we need a D but I'd expect to get something pretty amazing for that return even with Erat demanding a trade and Orlov's agent stiring the pot, but I truly don't have a good grasp of hockey trade values.

Sorry, no way.
We may very well end up playing all 3 of them for the next year.

I saw someone offer a Mojo, Orlov, and a First for Edler deal which I'd feel a little more comfortable about, though I don't really like losing Mojo in the deal unless we can convince Oates to let Erat play Top 6 again.

Still, not sure I really want Edler. He just looks like a left handed PMD to me.

Edler is a top pairing d-man, some might argue a low-end #1 defenceman.

Anywho, the Canucks don't need to move Edler, they'd only ask him to waive his NTC if they got a very good offer.
I thought I'd kill two birds with one stone, helping Washington move two players that want out while boosting their d-core significantly.

I just don't see it.

And you're not really helping us. Orlov never stated he wanted to move, his Agent did because he didn't like the minutes. I'm pretty confident that if Orlov is allowed to stick with the team and play in the bigs he stays. Erat might have to move just because he wants out, but all the fans here want him to remain. We also are pretty set, as I said I'd say 85% sure, on Kuz being here come March.

That is a big hit to what our team imo, so I wouldn't want to move that package unless we're getting something pretty big in return and Edler just doesn't do it for me.

Present day Edler is not good enough defensively to significantly benefit the caps (Green and Carlson aren't gonna shelter him) and falls apart in the playoffs. He would fill a need but not be a cost effective acquisition. Much rather pay a fair price for less of a big name that would get the job done.

What about something fair for Stanton?

Canucks have absolutely zero reason to move Stanton. He's a great #6 signed to a fantastic cap hit for this season and next season.

Sorry, but it's not even close when you put Kuznetsov in the deal.

Just the fact they don't have much value for you, doesn't mean it's the same for us.

Also, we don't need Edler. We have Schmidt and Orlov. We need a stay-at-home defenseman.

I'd trade for Karl Alzner-type. A leftie who plays defense first. Otherwise, doesn't fill a need.

Talking about stay-at-homers, I'd love to get Andrew MacDonald from the Isles.

Surprised you didn't want Ovechkin, too.

Negative

Would far rather trade Erat for a like priced defenseman that is also underperforming. Elder is a nice player, but not at that's price.

If we trade Kuznetsov, rather it for a stay at home type. Perhaps same age group.

Kuznetsov should be traded for the best defenseman available, period. No matter what shot he is or what style he is.

Yes.

Which means GMGM will do something else.

I saw your thread on the trade board. According to Staple Snow wants to re-sign AMac. Staple mentioned $3.5m per. I am not sure if that is AMac's asking price or Snow's offer.

Only way I see MacDonald moved, is if he prices himself off LI.

Caps have a favourable cap situation for next season, they could afford him.

Filip Forsberg trade, v.2.0. As Russians say, stepping on the same rake as last time.

Caps are better off holding onto Erat and Orlov based on their value to the team and its needs. Just need to repair the relationship with the coach which looks like its happening.

Bondra wanted out too at one point but we ended up holding on to him and the next season he scored 45 goals.

Oates himself wanted out and we held onto him and he was leading the league in scoring when we traded him at the deadline.

GMGM does not have a history of selling low and shows patience with disgruntled players.

Any why would we try to dump Kuznetsov??? Just because the Russian coach is clueless and all about structure? We've seen how political the National team selection in Russia can be before.
