Yakupov

What is the value of the former 1st overall right now? Any comparable? How many Yak dollars would it take to acquire him ?

His value is equivalent to a young 5M dollar 1 dimensional top 6 winger.

Be prepared...his value is going to be stupidly underrated in this thread.

I don't want to offer a comparable because this will turn into a whinefest, but I think Yakupov is worth more than Eberle.

That only holds weight for so long. It's way to early to give up on him for the Oilers. His value is greatest to them. Others will have questions about him. He's still young and can still easily become a great player just it's more of a risk after this season than it was before the season as there are more questions about him than before the season started.

At the minimum, I imagine it's what Phoenix got for Kyle Turris. Top prospect + 2nd round pick.

I imagine his value is as low as it's ever been. It would be foolish trading him now.

I'm not a fan, but surely Yak can play better than he has, or at least produce better (4G, 5A, 29 GP). If and when that happens, he's the most obvious trade bait among the Oilers' skilled, undersized forward corps. Of course, if he really starts lighting it up, that would provide other options.

Oiler fans ... Are him and Eakins getting along any better? Getting benched won't help him develop, but neither will being a regular visitor to his coach's doghouse.

Well Eberle's contract sure isn't doing him any favors.

It's as low as it has ever been would be my guess. But he still carries some value from his immense talent and his past performance.

If he's still playing like this in a year's time though, it could be pretty ugly.

No. Problem is that it goes like this:

Someone offers couple of scrubs and maybe a 2nd for Yakupov, explains that Yakupov is sooo bad yet he wants him.

When Oilers fans decline the offer, he tells us that scrub A would be like your top pairing D because you suck. Scrub B had a 30 goal season in 06 and he brings "grit and sandpaper" which you also need. Then he says that you have to trade some of your small onedimensional players if you ever want to win.

Then Oilers fans decline again.

After that it is back to Yakupov and Oilers sucking and Oilers fans enjoying being in the basement forever, just because we did not want your scrubs.

Rinse and repeat, then Oilers fans get bored and HF thinks that they agree on value because they did not reply to their proposal.

Win.

His value is at its lowest so the Oilers would be stupid to trade him right now

This Yak

Is worth more than this Yak

Seriously though, his value isn't high at all right now. He's not playing well, has made some less than optimal comments to the press, and would probably get truckloads of money from a KHL team.

He'll rebound though. Natural talent is way too high to keep playing like this.

Kyle Turris wasn't performing for 3 years, not half of one following a good performance.

This is not really a problem. Oiler fans view his value as equal to other 1st ov picks less than 100 games into their careers. Very high. 17 goals in 48 games as a rookie is pretty good. No doubt he's struggling this year, we'll see how he comes out on the other side. A little adversity isn't always a bad thing.

Lets say he went 5th overall instead (arbitrary number) and he wasn't ready for the NHL so he went back to junior for a year. And then the next season he against wasn't ready for the NHL so went to the AHL and got 40 points in 77 AHL games. This would probably been seen as adjusting to tougher competition and the player would still hold pretty high value. With the way he's been talked about I think some people would rather have the guy with 40 points in 77 games in the AHL rather than Yakupov.

Yakupov has 40 points in 77 NHL games, he is still 20 years old. He had a great 1st season with 31 points in 48 games. Now he has hit a sophomore slump. COMPLETELY NORMAL.

Seguin had 22 points in his first 74 NHL games, look at him now.
Kessel had 29 points in his first 70 NHL games, look at him now.
Perry had 25 points in his first 56 NHL games, look at him now.
Stamkos had 46 points in his first 79 NHL games, look at him now.

Oilers are probably gonna hold off trading either him to Eberle til the deadline, but I doubt they'd get much for him now. His stats aren't proving much, and getting benched isn't really helping his case either.

Legitimately had me laughing because it's 100% true.

In b4 Gardiner+Reimer, Beaulieu+Collberg, Tanev+Jensen, Smith+Cowen, and whatever else fans of these teams figure they could give up that wouldn't make any difference whatsoever to their own lineups, while adding a 1st overall potential 40 goal scorer - who by the way is still in his first 82 NHL games played. If the above offers fail add a 2nd and then act righteously offended when we say thanks but no thanks for the 10% chance at an NHL player.

We Canadian fans are the absolute worst haha. Usually the decent offers come out of left field from Washington/Minnesota.
