Montreal - Edmonton

Beaulieau, Bournival, 1st rounder 2014

For

Yakupov

I proposed this is in an earlier thread.

I for one am happy with the Habs as they are now...but would love a Yak-Chucky-Gally line.

Edmonton gets a top D prospect in Beaulieau, an NHL ready top 9 forward with top 6 potential and a 1st round pick.

The clock is ticking on Yak.....this is better return than what Turris, and JVR got. Both were considered busts for their draft spot

No clock is ticking on Yak. He's not getting traded.

Eberle or Hall will go first and they'll go for established veteran talent that will make us a better team.

Edmonton would ask for more which is understandable. Edmonton will give him at least another 2 years to grow, until then, I don't see them giving him up unless it's a jaw-dropping offer.

Edmonton refuses that offer and rightfully so.

Eberle i could see going if it comes to that but I doubt Hall goes anywhere.

Why would we give up our replacement for Markov, the potential in Bornival, and say.. a mid round first rounder for a guy playing the way he his this year?

Montreal is huge on defence (just ask Briere with his 6 mins played a night).. we don't need to gamble our rebuild pieces on this -17 player right now.

Yeah Hall and RNH are essentially not going to be moved unless there is an overpayment.

Oh dude.. he's really not going anywhere. Looking to be that big, number 1 line center that every teams wants. 'B-' for effort though

Think about what a fair offer for Galchenyuk would be. That's what the Oilers want for Yakupov. This isn't close.

Not even sure the Habs trade Bournival straight up for Yakupov. Bournival is a local talent and a heart and soul player. You win Stanley cup with players like Bournival you win 1st overall pick with players like Yakupov.

Yea who is that Yakupov guy anyways?

Its not like the Oilers picked him over Galchenyuk or anything (most fans still back it up), or its not like Yakupov outscored Galchenyuk last year with around the same TOI, and horrid linemates or anything.
Or the fact he could top out to be an electrifying sniper that everyone wants, just as Galchy could be "that big, number 1 line center that every teams wants".

I'm ok with it. Bournival has more points playing mostly on the 4th line with little powerplay time. He blocks shot and plays with grits. Yakupov will probably be a better player than him but he will also be way more expensive and one dimensional.

The best offer the Habs could made for Yakupov is 1st round pick+ Pateryn+ Collberg. If Edmonton want more Habs could get a better and more complete player for that package.

I am just saying that Bournival is not going anywhere, especially not for Yakupov.

As a Leaf fan with an obvious distaste for the Habs...i have to disagree here. A biggish skilled center (Gally) over a smallish skilled winger (Yak) for me. I truly believe that if Gally wouldn't have had his injury troubles (missed all but 2 games in 2011-12 because of a serious knee injury), he would have been the clear choice for 1st overall.

Oh really? A top 25 pick, a decent player, and a (looking like) bust for a player in a sophomore slump? I don't think soooo

Good thing your not a GM if that's the best offer they could make.

Sorry, meant to write most Oiler fans back it up. When you watch him every game you can see the flashes of brilliance, he just has to figure it out, and most of us are confident he will.
It will definitely be a good rivalry between the two for the foreseeable future.
The last part is debatable though, as many scouts took that into consideration at the time of the draft.

Yak plays with as much grit as Borunival, not like Bournival is some sort of Clutterbuck out there. As for blocked shots Bournival has 6 more than Yak, not exactly earth shattering.

lol.. ok

I can't imagine anyone worth their hockey salt not taking Galchenyuk over Yakupov right now.
