For some reason, probably to do with his on-ice image, you paint a picture in your head that he is someone who cannot string two coherent thoughts together.
Generally, high level pro athletes (even the typical NHL goon) have a high intellect level. You've gotta be able to think the game to have any chance, so it makes sense.

Parros is an Ivy League grad...doesn't he have a business that does finance stuff for players??

I was impressed by Rosehills interview and I agree with pretty much everything he said.

Rosehill is actually a pretty good guy, and he's actually a pretty decent hockey player considering he's not much more than an enforcer. It's not his fault that Berube thinks he's an everyday player.

That is a damn shame. Marc was starting to look like the best of the brothers a couple of years ago. Injuries are destroying him. Well, I guess Carolina will get him for cheaper than previously thought this offseason.

Geez, he hadn't even finished recovering from the vision problems from his last concussion. He's on his way to an early retirement at this rate.

And yes, Rosehill is the best enforcer we've had in a long time. But that's like saying a cold Whopper you dug out of the trash is the best meal you've had in a long time when you've been consuming your own feces for years.

He keeps his game simple and doesn't try to be Gretzky at any point. Rinaldo can learn something from that. He tried to get fancy last night in the 1st and it ended poorly.

Phaneuf suspended for 2 games for a hit from behind. Shanahan is a busy guy these days.

Can someone explain to me why Thornton's hearing has been pushed all the way back to Friday? The whole meeting should take about ten minutes. Is Shanny just letting him stew over this one?

Oh I agree with that. That's why I said it's mostly Berube's fault. Rosehill isn't going to scratch himself though. He's the kind of guy that should be playing <30 games a year against the tougher teams in the league (Toronto, Boston, Buffalo, etc.).

I'm okay with 5 for Neal, particularly as Shanahan provided the caveat in his explanation that Neal doesn't have a HISTORY but has a history. Plus, as others have said, 5 games is the max that can be given without possibility of appeal.

Lol, really though.

The whole meeting should be:
Shanny: "Yeah you really got him. We're gonna hit you with 15 games."
Thornton: "Ok. Do I fly back to Boston now?"

Shanahan has been probably getting a good laugh reading the thread(s) on the main board on the subject. So hes pushing it back as far as he can

in all seriousness I would like to think that Shanahan is going to drop the hammer on Thornton and is letting him stew over what he did for a week. But logic does not apply to Shanaban so who the hell knows.

The Neal and Thornton hearings should each take about 10 seconds.

Shanny: "You kneed a player in the head."

Neal: "In my defense, I would like to--

Shanny: "No. 5 games." *click*

I'd like to see him draw someone into a penalty once a while.
Shelley was good at this.
He should also work on his hitting game, we need someone with size to crash the opponents D every once in a while.

Shanahan is at Pebble Beach for some sort of GM or NHL meeting.

Riley Cote seems like a pretty smart guy too, especially regarding nutrition and things of that nature.

Doesn't Cote have everyone eating handfuls of hemp or something?

That's his goal. Trying to educate people about it and it's benefits. The guy is all about health.

Yup, wrote his major thesis in economics about a labour dispute on the west coast called "Trouble on the docks".

So IF they manage to win against the Blackhawks, I know it's unlikely but lets say they do, would you consider this road trip a success for failure overall.

I think I'd say it was a success because they'd be getting over half of the available points and beat two really good teams (Detroit and Chicago). There have been some disappointing losses but I think the good would outweigh the bad.

Kevin Westgarth of Carolina is another goon Ivy Leaguer as well, played at Princeton during his college days.

And ex-enforcer Stu Grimson has a law degree. I laughed to see his profile on LinkedIn.

If we beat Chicago we'd be 3-2-1 on the trip. I'd say that's a success considering the travel, the lack of practice in Dallas, the quality of teams, and the fact that we had 2 road games and an odd morning game right before the trip started. They have to come home and take care of Montreal though.
