Just like O'Reilly...Future Selke candidate. I know Pleky is one of your best forwards and I'm not pissing on him...but is he ever gonna have a chance of bringing a trophy back home? I doubt.

Habs seem to be interested in every gritty guy in the NHL that can score. Not shocked.

If Pleks or ROR are your team's best forward - or very near to being your best forward - there is very little chance either of them is going to bring the Cup back home. You have a better chance at getting a MacKinnon or Galchenyuk type of player in the draft, in fact your odds of that happening are 100%.

I can't see either of these teams making this sort of trade. They are both doing well, I wouldn't rock the boat.

So the mystery of the Habs scouting the Avs all year may have been solved. From the Avs board...

Except for the fact that the GM/assist GM and many other scouts attended AVS game on the road...

O'Reilly is worth being interested in. Not sure he's worth qualifying at the $6.5M number. I think that would make him a doubtful trade target for most teams when he does become eligible to be traded.

This is a joke, right? Of course he's worth qualifying, If It's for one year at $6,5 mil. Anyway, you can re-sign him long-term at any price, so I don't think It matters that much. BTW, If you take ROR to NHL Salary Arbitration, you can get him signed for as little as $5,8 mil per season. So $6,5 mil is kinda ********.

Of course Eklund says the Habs are interested in O'Reilly! Of course...

That aside, we've gone 9-0-1 in our last 10 and are fighting for 1st in the Eastern Conference, while adding O'Reilly would be nice, you don't want to mess with chemistry too much. The price would probably be something like Plekanec, Beaulieu, ++ and at this point, it's not worth it, IMO. If we weren't in the position we're in now, sure, but at this point, I wouldn't do it. I'd prefer for Bergevin to fill in the needs, a bigger winger or legit top 4 defenseman.

Well, ok, if you already had him and were stuck with qualifying or losing him, sure, you'd qualify him at that number. But I think it would be tough to trade significant assets and then still have to make the qualifier reach on top of that.

Diaz + Beaulieu + 2nd

Or maybe, switch Beaulieu for one of our bust prospects. Even better.

Duck and cover. I'm not high on O'Reilly, but he's worth much more.

I'd love to read exactly what the Avs Director of Player Personnel had in his notebook on the Habs based on tonight's performance.

If you make that bust prospect PK Subban and change ROR to PAP I'd be down.
