La-cal

To LA: Giordano

To CAL:
Stoll (mostly for cap reasons)
Clifford
Pearson
1st

Calgary gets a gritty 3rd liner in Clifford, a potential top 6 guy in Pearson, and a 1st. They also get Stoll who can provide some leadership/mentoring and is on a reasonable contract but Kings need to clear room.

I'd be willing to switch Pearson for any other prospect not named Toffoli or Vey who are already Kings IMO.

Kings get a replacement for Mitchell who I think will be done after this season, plus the fact that Greene is an uncertainty beyond this season.

If Gio was not just named captain in the off season than I could see this. This would be a decent return, but would cripple Calgary's backend.
Would love him in LA though.

No thanks. Gio's value to the Flames right now worth more than any team would be ready to trade away.

Toffoli would have to be included with the 1st, not that other junk.

I get the desire for Toffoli, but Pearson is not 'junk'

While I'd like to get Giordano, I wouldn't want LA surrendering that much.

I don't want any Calgary/LA trades that don't have Martin Jones.

That's a massive overpayment.

It's basically three 1st, if you consider that Stoll and Clifford can both fetch a 2nd each, which could be an equivalent to a 1st.

That's a lot of "B" pieces. Not that it's a horrible offer but if Gio was to be moved, the Flames would probably be looking for more of a significant player coming back, instead of a package of lesser pieces.

He's already signed for 2 more years @ $4 million.

It's three relatively late firsts. And yes that is what it would cost for a player like Gio on his contract.

Even then the Flames probably say no in favor of a package with the equivalent of a much higher end first as opposed to multiple late ones

Well, you guys also thought that Iggy would fetch a whole lot more than what you guys eventually settled for so...

Personally, I'm not all that impressed with Gio. He's solid, but definitely not worth the three 1sts.

Iggy only wanted to go to one team. Even the nixed Boston deal was more than he eventually got. Had Iggy been more open his value would have been even higher. Also Iggy was definitely getting traded. You are prying Gio out.

I'm not, the OP is.

Personally, I'd be more interested in Smid. What would you want in return for Smid?

Tough to judge Smid's value. Late 1st + cap dump? Kevin Gravel kind of interests me.

We don't really have anyone I consider a "cap dump" but I'm sure some of our fanbase would consider Stoll as a cap dump.

With that said, would you consider Clifford + Martinez?

i wouldn't do that trade if i was dean Martinez is already a better defenseman then Smid and u want to add clifford doesnt make sence to me.

Not really a Martinez fan, myself. I like Clifford but if there's one thing the Flames going for then, it's a ton of good bottom 6 prospects.
