Style of play also has an effect. Not that there was talent on the forward lines, but next year Team Canada will have to rely on offensive contribution a lot more to win games which will require a more open style of play.

Definitely agree. There was not a lot of offensive flair on Team Canada this year, nor was the environment based on offense. Next year if Toews returns, stick Gagner with him, throw out Doughty and Alzner on the PP and watch the goals pour in. Things will be much different next year.

Wrong. Why don't you try sitting on the bench for extended periods of time and then going out on the PP to try and score? The gold medal game was his best of the tournament, and just wait until he gets back to London w/ this experience under his belt.

The thing that impressed me over the last two games was the awareness he displayed on one goal in the semis and one goal yesterday where he was right on the edge of the crease but kept his skate out of it while setting up a screen. I'm not sure if he's ever played with that rule before, but I thought it was a nice job.

Gagner with 1G and 3 primary assists in his first game back from the World Juniors so any potential confidence lost from his inability to finish wasn't a factor.
The Knights with a big 4-2 win over Saginaw to reclaim first overall in the conference.

Not to mention being a 17/18 year old playing in a tournament of 19 year olds. He'll be a force next year in the WJC.
