OT - Fitzpatrick - Has he made it?

Has it been announced? Anybody know? Or when will it be?

Regardless of whether he made it or not, the NHL will officially announce the starting lineups on Tuesday, the 9th. However, if there is some leaked information out there, I'm sure we'll hear in the next couple of hours.

I read in the paper today "speculation" that Fitzpatrick is short (i.e. in 3rd place).

Took advantage of what? Of the fact that ppl are laughing at them and pointing out that their All-Star voting system sucks?

Or that the league is laid back and open minded. I asked all of my non-hockey fan friends if they'd watch the allstar if some average no name player was there. They all thought it would be hilarious. People love the 'average joe turned hero' thing.

The younger crowd seems to love this Rory thing. It's the older uptight types who get all upset, like Cherry.

People love it so they can spend the next 3 hours laughing at the guy. The all-star game isn't a comedy show, it should be a talent showcase.

I'm glad Rory is falling short, hopefully all the people that wasted so much time putting in votes won't do so next year since it was all done for nothing.

And then we can go back to voting for real stars.

Maybe Rory can try getting into the AHL all-stars instead.

I still think that they lowered the results on purpose so he falls just short...

The joke isn't on Rory. The joke is the game. The score is going to be 13-10 anyways with one hit thrown just for giggles. It's not a showcase of hockey, or even hockey talent. Hockey's a team game, with a lot of elements, and those include guys like Rory Fitzpatrick. Sure, he'd be an oddball there in one sense, but he's a NHL player like the rest of them and pays his dues to the same union as all the other guys in that room. I'm sure Rory would have a blast if he got to go.

What better way to show off talent than with the ultimate contrast?
