Kristo is much more hit or miss than the other guys. He has obvious talent. But he just is not a well rounded player at all.

he might not be that good of a dman but he sure is nasty...no need for that in our system...let's make sure we sign Ryan Bourque.

The more I think about it the more I am done with this team.

I hate Dolan.

I hate Sather.

I hate Clark.

I hate AV.

I hate Richards.

etc...
Do you know who else didn't sign Maggio? 29 other NHL teams. He's played 34 games at the AHL level since the Rangers let him go, so I can't say I'm that concerned.

Posted this in the injury thread, but it's more relevant here.

Suspensions resulting from incidents against teams:

Bruins 4
Sharks 2
Blue Jackets 1
Flames 1
Hurricanes 1
Kings 1
Oilers 1
Penguins 1
Rangers 1
Red Wings 1
Senators 1
Sharks 1
Wild 1

By Man-games suspended:
Bruins 17
Blue Jackets 10
Sharks 8
Kings 5
Red Wings 5
Rangers 3
Wild 3
Flames 2
Hurricanes 2
Oilers 2
Senators 2
Penguins 1

But I thought the Bruins can police themselves...

Making him the NHL heavyweight from game one also seems risky/silly to me. I know the rough stuff is part of his game but it's much more important to get acclimated to the NHL pace than it is for him to fight Dorsett's battles or whatever.

If trades/injuries/performances/whatever give him an early look-in (I wouldn't be surprised if they hit a certain "point" with him in HFD where the organization is comfortable trading NHL D-depth for scoring or snarl), I expect The Stu Bickel Experience to get a cup of coffee on the wing.

I agree with all this.

But you can almost sense the pressure building to bring him up. Before Staal's injury last year our D was looked upon as our best strength after Hank. Now it's fast becoming a liability.

Plans. I'm sure they had some good ones. Now real life has intervened and is exposing organizational weaknesses.

It's frustrating. They were at least drafting decent prospects for a few years and they brought in a guy (Torts) who helped them establish and identity other teams respected. McIlrath was supposed to help cement that identity. At least that's how I saw it. Now...he's going to do what...exactly? Re establish it? On this team? OK.

They are not at the same level team wise that they were. Players that should be performing are not. Leaders are not leading. It's shows up on the ice and on the bench. God only knows what's happening in the room. This is a less than perfect environment to bring in a key prospect. We'll see.

Because "normal teams" score goals too... only Florida and Buffalo are behind the Rangers in goals scored per game and the Rangers are also tied with the Devils, Preds, and Flyers at 2.23.

When it comes to just overall goals the Ranger fair a little better tied with the Devils at 69, and ahead of Florida, Philly, Nashville, and Buffalo.

Haven't read through the entire thread, so forgive me if I'm re-hashing what many others have said.. but people have different definitions of "toughness" and I think the type of toughness this team needs isn't a player/players who will wind up with 5 PIM a game. It would be nice if the team stood together and stood up for each other, but we need another type of player..

What our team needs is players in the bottom six who will be absolutely relentless after the puck. Players who will absolutely not give up on the battles in the corners and in the defensive zone. Defensively responsible forwards who do not slow down or stop battling no matter what. Hungry. Not shying away from the bumps and bruises. Forwards that actually have the physical tools to do so; good skating, strong forwards who can posses the puck. Players that opposing teams do not want to play against. There aren't any players who don't want to play against Taylor Pyatt, Benoit Pouliot, Derick Brassard, Brian Boyle on most days, etc.

Size would be nice, but if we're able to find resilient forwards to win the battles on both ends of the ice and set up our top forwards (Nash, Richards, Kreider, Stepan, Zucc) in the offensive zone it would do this team wonders.

I hate to bring up Brandon Prust, because yadda yadda yadda overpaid yadda yadda, but someone akin to him is what we should be looking for (for the record, I don't think he's worth that contract by a mile). He never gave up on the play; he had the motor and the tools to do so. Stood up for his teammates because when a player has that type of drive they're usually the ones to step in. Ryan Callahan (save for what he's showing us this year) is another player who hit everything he saw and helped grind out opportunities. We need the type of players to take away the oppositions time and space in both zones. Have to force mistakes. Be aggressive.

Hopefully the team wakes up. Hopefully the closed-door meeting lit a fire under these guys' *****. In 2012 this team was able to out-work and out-hustle the rest of the league and nailed down home ice advantage. This year's team is not cohesive. They don't have any drive. They need tough, resilient players to inject some life into them.

LMAO...what is really scary is that we drafted that kid Tinordi's dad Mark...who was as nasty as they come and could play and fight and then we traded him away.....things have not changed much in 25 years .

This has pretty much been the sentiment of every single person here except those with an anti-fighting agenda, but thats only a small minority.

10-15 min left in the 3rd...Brassard mugged by 2 Preds, Richards and Nash out for a skate, can't be bothered.

Hank gets poked by Hendricks after a whistle. John Moore of all people has to answer and do something.

If you want to believe this crap doesn't have an impact go right ahead. This team just has no fire and doesn't give a damn about each other or competing. More of the same.

Have fun at the clubs tonight boys! Live it up. NY pretty boys.

It's not even standing up for themselves that's the problem. Nobody hits. Nobody wants to play on the boards or go to the net. Nobody wins puck battles. And nobody is willing to get hit to make a play.

Did we look tough last night?

Asham is a joke, he's old and out of gas. Everything the coaching staff and Sather is doing these days is pretty pathetic.

Hendricks had hell of a game. Rangers get dominated by another 4th line. Why? They know they can get away with anything without a response.

McD was slewfooted on a goal last night and got hurt and couldn't defend, and the Preds scored. Hendricks didn't throw punches because of who he was paired up against. The next face-off draw Hendricks gave Moore a stick tap out of respect and Moore returned the favor. Rangers opponents give Ranger players more respect for stepping up than AV & Arnie seem to do.

Agreed. Just look at Staal, a dirty hit almost knocked him out. Did we answer the bell? Nooo...our players just standing there watching Staal in pain...

Our softness is embarrassing.

This team doesn't need any of that...they need to roll 4 lines...that's why we signed Pouillot and Moore...so, they could give us 10 minutes of nothing instead of 6 minutes of a guy willing to go to war for his team. Prust would have been overpaid by 500k....500k...for a team that has burned millions upon millions upon millions...it was the one time Sather has decided to be cheap and people applauded him for it.

Sather said he would win cup after cup with Rangers bank roll and no one ever has called him out...amazing and baffling all rolled into one.

I can't watch anymore....Hank is sure earning that 8.5...amazing how other goalies who have won cups make 7 but he deserves 8.5...another brilliant move
