I'm not to sold on the kid yet..

I think he'll be exposed fairly quick, to the point that posters here'll think he's over rated..

I want him to succed and stick around..

nothing more than "reevaluate McI around Xmas" + "Marc Staal concussion"

i don't think this is bad for him. what is bad would be AV playing him only 4 of 8 games and 9 min a night. THAT would hurt his development but if AV plays him each night and gives him say 15+ min a night, that will be good for him. If he's not ready, it's important that they just send him back with a homework list of "needs to improve" instead of having him riding pine or press box time.

I'm hoping to see him with MDZ as having that RD anchor would really help stabilize MDZ's game whom we need to play well with Staal out. Getting more ice time should also help stabilize MDZ's game and if Sather is still desiring to trade him, this will help up his trade value. Although if he starts to play well, maybe AV will whistle a different tool and he'll be pulled off the trade block.

Jeff Buekeboom said about a month ago that McIlrath was ahead of where they thought he would be.

I welcome the toughness. But if this system is supposedly too fast for Staal and G to keep up, I'm not confident that he will be able to keep up

I've been skeptical of 'Taker since the shocking moment of heraing him announced as our draft pick, but I want to love him, and hope I do. With the way we've been playing, I think it might be easy for him to make a mark. If he starts clearing some bodies and protecting teammates in scrums, he'll be the first, and that automatically makes him kind of awesome.

Ready to see what the kid is made of at the NHL level.

This should be nothing more than a cup of coffee. He needs to be back in the A, unless of course he proves he can stick

So excited

I expect him to play around 10 even strength minutes against weaker competition with a lot of offensive and neutral zone starts. If he's exposed in that, we've got issues.

I don't think he's overly polished. He can be a bit of a dummy in defensive zone coverage, but he gets more confident with the puck every day.

Not too much to ask of a young kid.
Considering that he has been endlessly touted as just that, why shouldn't that be his role?

Dalton Prout and Jared Boll both on the Jackets...and of course Dubi! Don't be surprised if Tomorrow's game gets a little spirited! Prout just beat Lucic recently in a tussle. Prout also went with Haley in Hartford. That one was a draw.

So happy for Big Mac. Hope he makes the most out of the opportunity and sticks around for a while.

That's just what he is. He'll be the man to step up when the boys need him to. Nothing quasi about his sense of toughness.

My plan if I were McIlrath:
Vs columbus: fight at least once.
Vs calgary: try to stay out of the box
Vs anyone better than columbus or calgary: try to fight enough times to get tossed. Cant have defensive breakdown from the lockerroom. Honestly, this team could use Bickel as a winger. Even more honestly, i dont think he was horrible as a dman. He's the type of guy who keeps hanging around and the next thing you know, he's like Matt Carkner. He'a really tough number 6-7 guy. The team would do well to have him shift between forward and d. You cannot convince me he is any worse than Strudwick was, who was given crazy props as a team guy.

Excellent.

I have recommended this dude several times, looks like Sather is reading this board

Now...who said toughness isn't a factor? This proves you're dead wrong, when are you gonna learn how important this is in the NHL...

No one. But 75% of everyone here thinks the only thing that equates to toughness is fights and PIM.

I see the bar has been lowered on proof. Have you alerted science?

That would require BRB to say something that isn't negative. Maybe he can actually say something positive about this team if he uses a double negative.

James Cameron will have something to say about this.
