Talk to them about your situation and see what they can do.

Does this work? I think most of us would like to be able to negotiate cheaper prices, but any hockey store ive been in usually marks up there stuff a bit compared to online, not to mention the websites consistent 20% off type deals.

ill try to buy all my protective gear and probably skates from a LHS, but sticks/tape/blades ill get online most of the time due to selection and price.

What's wrong with some communication and a simple explanation of situation? You'd be surprised at what can be done in certain situations.

Almost every time I've bought something from my local shop (not including stuff like tape), the owner is like "yeah, this retails for $X but will give it to you for $X-Y".

If you're not picky and willing to go with previous year models, you'll often get a deal as they want to get rid of older stuff to make room for newer gear. You could try saying something like "I'm looking for a helmet, do you have any older models that you're looking to get rid of at a discount?".

I didnt say anything was wrong with it.

My LHS is part of the rink, so i dont really care if i purchase there or not because im paying through my nose for league fees.

I heard so much about the ReAkt cage, like the most lightweight and better vision due to the oval shaped bars, that I got one as a xmas present for meself... Just installed it to my helmet, will try em on sunday in two league games.

Got my new Bauer Reactor 2000 skates today. So far, I like 'em. Nice and light, and they fit better than my old ones. $170 for new goalie skates, even entry level, is rare, so couldn't resist. Now...to get them on the ice.

Actually he is a pretty good kid, he knows what he wants and earns the $$ to help pay. Don't mind paying for good gear, I have always believed that you get what you pay for.
Some of the gear I got amazing deals on as well.

I spent an hour trying on gloves yesterday, must have tried on 30 different pairs/brands. When I grip the stick many times my pinky is squished beside my other finger and it is uncomfortable.

I then put my hands in some $70 Easton Mako M3's and my god. Ultimate comfort for my hands, was surprised these gloves felt better than the $150 ones. Honestly have never been more excited to try out new gloves, not sure what the reviews on them are but damn..

I have the mako m3's as well, very happy with them. I like my gloves on the snug side

Very snug, but they still provide full range of motion on the wrists which I like.

yep, I've never felt they got in my way, but they never feel like my bauer 4 rolls that always feel like they're about to fall off.

For me, the makos are invisible, I don't notice them at all while they're on.

Perfect, exactly what I wanted...my last 6 pairs of gloves I never felt comfortable in, ever since I was a kid, I just always assumed they were supposed to feel like that.

On Odrs and the lake I would usually forego gloves unless there was a game, hated the feel.

I'm pretty beginner, so I'm sure there's people out there with a lot more expertise on gloves. But they seem to work well, stand up to beer league slashing and batting down pucks, and don't make my shot worse than it already is.

Yeah I'm not even in a beer league, just play at outdoor rinks and some games in my universities league, which is actually pretty competitive for what it is. I guess kinda like the beer league for 20-25 year olds haha.

Good to know that someone else out there likes the gloves though
