ROSTER UPDATE: The Flyers have loaned Tye McGinn to Adirondack & signed (F) Chris VandeVelde, who will be available to play in tonight's Flyers-Canadiens game
REALLY? instead of giving a young guy with potential (doesnt even have to be McGinn) a shot, they sign some 26 year old career AHL journeyman and call him up?

I think Akeson should be given a chance to score on Giroux's wing. Giroux has the size and corner worker of Voracek, Giroux the set up guy and let Akeson slip in somewhere to rip one home.

For defense:

Coburn-Timonen
Grossmann-Gus
Mez-Schenn

Just please god bench Rosehill and Streit.

That 4th line would probably have the best overall skating we've all had year, especially with Raffl and Rinaldo having some wheels on them. That Hartnell, Schenn, Simmonds line should help be more of a grind/get-dirty-goal kind of line.
Poor B. Schenn

I'm out at this point. This team is mediocre until something happens. If you are going to be mediocre, might as well let youngsters play.

Anybody want my Caps v Flyers tix for next Tuesday?

I really liked what I saw of the guy. Quick on his feet, gets in the dirty areas and will become a best.

My point is that this guy is a 26 year old career AHLer and instead of calling up a younger prospect with potential and offensive instincts, such as Akeson, they call-up a guy that in all likelihood will have zero impact

I know, Akeson would of been amazing to bring up. But I find it's because they can't bench someone like Hartnell. If Hartnell was injured or scratched, Akeson or McGinn would be the ones to be up to fill the spot.

why can't you bench Hartnell? if Berube doesnt have the balls to bench or even demote Hartnell to the 4th line, he shouldnt be this team's coach

Hahahahhahahahah. I'd be mad if I wasn't completely over this management staff already. Get ready to see Vandaschmuck, Rinaldo, and Rosehill in the lineup. I can feel it in my bones.

McGinn is a 23 year old career AHLer so far.

If they want to keep Raffl on the second line over McGinn and have VDV play on the 4th I think that's fine. Just as long as Rosehill is benched.

Especially against the Habs? They are mostly small players and if Parros plays, don't play Rosehill. Just let Parros be slow and keep his team down.

At least VandeVelde should make a solid 4th liner with good defensive awareness.

But I'm not sold on this move yet. Typical Homer move would be to sign Vande Velde to a contract but then not play him because Berube wants to stick with Rosehill.

As far as Akeson is concerned the consensus in the Flyers organization seems to be career AHLer. Poor guy will never be given a real shot.

Well Akeson's contract will be up and I can't imagine he re-signs here. He'll probably to a struggling team to get his shot.

VandeVelde? Da ****?

Can't wait to see what brand of bad lineup decisions we have for this one.

I really don't see VandeVelde contributing noteworthily less than McGinn or any other Phantom, so I'm completely fine with the move. For now. Didn't he look decent at preseason?

I think he was our leading scorer in the pre-season . He definitely has speed and likes to get rough.
