Hollweg really didn't either in his one year in the AHL so it's possible that as an energy player Kantor could find a niche--at least for a while. For that to happen though the Rangers would have to leave some bottom line spots open instead of giving the Pyatts, the Pouliots and the Moore's another go.

Do the Wolfpack get anything if they're the worst team in the AHL? Like the #1 pick in the major pee-wee draft?

I wish.

The team has been terrible for the past month. With McIlrath gone, it's only going to get worse.

They needed to do it.

Their goaltending had been terrible since Talbot got called up.

FIRST PERIOD

The newly acquired goalie Dov Grumet-Morris is starting.

Pack get caught up in the offensive zone. 2 on 1 results, but Dov played his angles well and forced the shot wide. However, a penalty resulted on this play, so an early PK has to be killed.

PK killed and at the end the Pack got a 2 on 1 themselves with Miller carrying the puck, but Hrivik was called for offside.

Another PP for the Phans. Hughes with good anticipation to clear the puck.

Just as Bickel is set to step out of the box, the Pack is called for yet another penalty on Dupont. Three penalties on the Pack in under 7.5 minutes. Penalty killed.

Dov is looking like a different caliber goalie than Miss is. Tough start with most of the first half a period on the PK, but he's held up so far.

Newbury is pressuring and creating scoring chances. Wait, he's not with the Pack anymore. Sucks.

Hrivik-Miller-Kristo are playing together. If they won't score, I have my doubts about the rest of the team putting pucks in the net.

Kantor gets a stick in the face, and the Pack go on the PP.

GOAL: Great looking PP with wonderful passing. Miller scores off a phenomenal pass from Kristo. Allen with the other assist.

Another PK for the Pack as Allen is called. Bourque with a nice rush on the PK to create a scoring chance. Dov make a good glove save as the period ends.

SECOND PERIOD

The carry-over penalty is killed off.

Pack giveaway, but Dov makes a very nice stop. Looking good so far.

Bourque creates a scoring chance, then immediately draws a penalty.

Allen is like the McDonagh of the AHL when McD was a rookie.

Hrivik-Miller-Kristo looking good so far.

Beach is invisible.

Dov is a huge save. Looking really good.

Noob is off for a slash, so the Pack are on the PP. The PP looked decent, though nothing went in. Yogan-Lindberg-Beach are the second PP unit, with Hrivik-Miller-Kristo being the first.

Quick kick save by Dov. Then another save half a minute later.

Powe with a good rush, but lacks the ability to turn a scoring chance into a great shot. He tried to get it over to Kantor, but didn't succeed.

GOAL: Noob shoots, then the Phans score on the rebound. Nothing Dov could've done. 1-1

Big scrum between teams with 30 seconds to go.

Pack continue their inability to score.

THIRD PERIOD

Holmstrom smacks the puck in the net. It's 2-1.

O'Donnell was hooked on the breakaway, so it's a penalty shot. Tried to put it into the 5-hole, but to no avail because the puck rolled on him at last second.

Big leg save by Dov.

Hrivik, pass to Kristo, good chance, but no goal.

GOAL: Miller with a good play in the offensive zone, Hughes shoots it from the blue line, Hrivik scores off the rebound. 2-2.

Miller with a good hard shot that was stopped.

Lindberg made a couple of errors tonight. Not quite ready for prime time.

Kantor with a big hit, laying down Konan. Another big hit by Kantor on the same shift.

Dov continues to play well, stopping several more shots.

OVERTIME

Miller with a good rush.

Lindberg needs to be tougher along the boards.

Pack go on the PP with 2:11 to go. Bourque drew this penalty, the second time he did it tonight. Pack call time-out at the start of the PP. Hrivik, Miller and Kristo start the PP with Syvret as the only defenseman. Miller with a good one-timer, but a good save on him.

Phans call a timeout, so both teams called one this PP.

SHOOTOUT

Miller: goes straight at the goalie, moves slightly and fires the wrist shot in. 1-0.

Newbury: Noob hits the goal post. 1-0

Kristo: tried to do the same thing as Miller, but was stopped.

Akeson: fakes a slap shot, then scores. 1-1

Hrivik: same thing as Miller and Kristo, unsuccessfully. 1-1

Cousins: can't slip it under Dov.

Beach: wrist shot from far away goes wide.

Flanagan: wrist shot hits the outside of the goal post.

Lindberg: wrist shot stopped.

Bordson: Dov poke checks him.

Syvret: can't get it through the 5-hole.

Straka: quick wrist shot goes in, Pack lose.

Great oenalty shot by O'Donnell... looked like a fan during intermission in a penalty shot contest to win a t-shirt. More than half this team doesn't belong in the AHL, and would have to fight for a roster spot in the ECHL.

Dov Grumet-Morris has made more saves in this game than Missiaen, Stajcer and Malcom combined all season. Dov is a keeper (pun intended

Tanski scored two tonight to help Orlando beat Greenville in the ECHL. At least St. Croix had 2G1A and was +3

Pack drop sixth in a row to Phantoms in 3-2 shootout loss

Miller was phenomenal, Lindberg had a rough game. Kristo had a good outing, too, and Allen continues to show me good signs.

Allen's future as a Rangers defenseman is being completely overlooked on this forum, but he will be playing in the NHL. For a rookie, he's very well polished. At some point next year, he'll be our 7th or 8th defenseman, and will probably be in the top-6 for us or another team in 2015-16.

Absolutely agreed. He's not the flashiest player out there, but he's smart, strong positionally, and a very good skater. Said it before, but he reminds me of Andy Greene a little bit with how mobile he is out there. Perhaps not as skilled as Greene, but he'll be a valued contributor to the Rangers in the relatively near future, IMO.

It's good to hear the Allen is progressing. I would hope he would being older than Del Zotto and John Moore. Regardless, it is important when undrafted free agents can help the big club at some point.

the Rangers should call him up hopefully in january if he keeps up his play.. i bet he cant be worse than Del Zotto defensively.. Rangers need more like this..

JT Miller scored another goal tonight

Quote:
GOALLLL!! JT Miller scores an absolute beauty to make it 3-2. Albany still leads but that's two unanswered by the Pack.
https://twitter.com/WolfPackAHL/stat...08640636518400

His 7th of the season. 7 goals and 9 points in 8 games.

The Pack lost again. 5-2. Kristo scored the other goal.
