Supposedly Hartnell was laughing his ass off at Subban but I didn't see it in that video.

Here it is.

I'll take a second to eat some crow.

Gus looked pretty good last night. He made the smart plays that you want from your bottom pairing defensemen, and Scheen looked a lot more comfortable playing with him than he ever does playing with Meszaros. Hopefully Berube leaves him in the lineup and we get to see more of him.

Giroux was the best player on the ice for either team, followed up by Jake Voracek. It's only one game, but getting Hartnell off their line is already starting to pay off. Even the Schenn line with Hartnell and Simmonds looked pretty good. Once Vinny is back, I'd like to see him tried with Giroux and Voracek.

Also, I found out last night that Emelin is allowed to run around acting like an ******* because he has a plate in his face.

I think it was you that said that line needed to exist in order to fix the top line. I said at the time, and feel the same way now, that they can be effective if used properly.

They need to play sheltered minutes with a healthy dose of Ozone starts. They're going to get pinned in their own zone for lengths of time in some games, but they have the potential to forecheck the hell out of the opposition. Like a 4th line that could actually score.

We were already using the Schenn line as the 3rd line as far as TOI goes, so just keep that the same.

Thanks, Protest. I don't know if I said that, but this was certainly my sentiment. The term "Legion of Dumb" comes to mind. They performed better than I expected, with the desired result of improving the Giroux line. I know it was just one play, but I was impressed by Raffl's poise with the puck on his stick in the slot.

I agree with your assessment of the big boy line being forecheck specialists. Against a smaller opponent like the Canadiens, this will wear down the opposition defenders, and should help lines 1 and 2.

mobile Defense = better defense.

Gus is not perfect, he will most likely never be better than a #4, but having him as the 3rd pairing is good for this team. You now have 4 relatively mobile defensemen (if Streit gets his crap together)

However, I am not a fan of Berube constantly shuffling the lineup after every loss.

The team will lose games occasionally.

No surprise. Downie flopped so bad on that play that he should have been suspended.

That is basically how I watch every game via nhl gamecenter. In wake up CET and forward through all the commercials and intermissions. There are torrent sites that post soccer games, but I have never seen an nhl game posted quickly. It would not surprise me if they were though.

Emelin didn't deserve a suspension. 5 & a game was more than sufficient.
