Brayden Schenn fined $2.2K for Crosscheck to Kris Versteeg

Did anyone see the crosscheck to face of Kris Versteeg from Brayden Schnn. Don't have a link but I speculate he will be getting a phone call from Shanahan. What do you guys think? My guess is 1 game but it's as good as yours!

He shouldn't get anything. It looked a lot worse at live speed than it really was. It also didn't help that Versteeg acted like Schenn took a hatchet to his neck. If anything, it should have been just a minor on the ice.

Definitely should have been called a penalty. I could see a suspension. Nothing too serious though. A game or two at most. I wouldn't suspend him for it, but I wouldn't be upset or shocked if he got something.

I watched the game but haven't seen the replay...thought it was to the back of his head? Kind of a punch/crosscheck? At least he stuck around to see if Versteeg was ok. He might get a couple with his previous history.

Don't think Schenn intended to punch/crosscheck Versteeg in the head, but it was a reckless play. I could see a game at most but you obviously never know what you're gonna get with the powers that be. Does Schenn have a "history"?

Left his feet on a hit and got a game in the playoffs. I hate that I can just say in the playoffs and don't have to specify a yr given how this season is playing out.

Any chance they mistake Brayden for Luke and Luke Schenn can get suspended, please?

With the way the announcers were talking about Luke Schenn's "elbow" last night it wouldn't surprise me.

There is no possible way for a crosscheck to be an accident. It's a deliberate move. Perhaps Schenn planned on crosschecking him in the back and caught him higher, but it's still his responsibility.

I have no idea how Ed Olczyk continues to get national broadcasts of Chicago games. He can barely keep it in his pants, and doesn't even try to show an ounce of objectivity. Meanwhile, Keith Jones always goes out his way to criticize the Flyers a couple of times just to keep it neutral.

Crosscheck was more to Versteeg's neck which could have been very serious.

It seemed like he was trying to hit him in the shoulder, but he got a little higher than he intended. I don't think anything will come of it, but if he got a one game suspension I wouldn't be outraged.

I think it is more that we realize that this is the direction hockey (and all sports) are going. I wouldn't suspend him for this, but it wouldn't surprise me if Shanny does.

Maybe Schenn is studying Chiropractics and was just giving Versteeg an adjustment.

it was a pretty stupid move my Schenn. of course a penalty likely means another goal for Chicago.

The CBA (through the demand of the PA) has always ensured that fines for players are inadequate.

Based on Schenn's base $810,000 salary, the fine is equivalent to about $150 for someone making $50K.
