If I was GM and Giroux did not accept my 7.3 Million offer, I guess I would be shopping him now.

Here's mine...
I tried to be as realistic as possible

Biggest Deals (I don't even know how even these are, I'm only an armchair GM)
#1 - Trade B. Schenn, Morin, 2014 2nd, 2015 3rd to Senators for Bobby Ryan

Steve Mason to extension with annual hit $4.5 million
Ray Emery for $2.0 million
Gustafsson for $1.0 million
Raffl for less than a million
Adam Hall for $0.800 million

Recalled:
Scott Laughton

I'd blow the whole thing up if I were the GM. I'd start by identifying which players stay. As it stands, Giroux, Mason, Couturier, Read and Downie are those guys who I keep from the main roster. In terms of prospects, Ghost, Laughton, Stolarz, Leier, Morin, Hagg, Alt, Cousins and Straka are keepers.

So, there's lots of bodies available. First things first. The Schenn boys go back close to home. I call Winnipeg and see if a deal with regards to Evander Kane and Grant Clitsome could be made.

Next deal involves Hartnell and Coburn. That's a phone call to the Edmonton Oilers. I know Edmonton fans will scream bloody murder, but I think a deal around Klefbom and Yakupov could be made.

Third deal would be Wayne Simmonds and Nicklas Grossmann to Phoenix for Keith Yandle and Mikkel Boedker.

Fourth deal would be Vinny Lecavalier to Montreal in exchange for Max Pacioretty and Nathan Beaulieu.

Final deal would be Jakub Voracek to Florida for Dmitri Kulikov and Drew Shore.

This is how the lineup ends up shaking out:

Yakupov - Giroux - Kane
Downie - Couturier - Read
Pacioretty - Laughton - Boedker
Rinaldo - Hall - Raffl

Defense would obviously be the big overhaul:
Yandle - Klefbom
Beaulieu - Alt
Kulikov - Clitsome
Gustafsson

I'm sure some would absolutely detest this overhaul of the D, but with the money saved in a lot of the transactions, a guy like Nikitin could be added with the left over savings. Not too sure how many would like this though.

I like the drastic changes but you really think Montreal trades Paccioretty AND Beaulieu for Lecavalier? That's crazy. Plus if we got Pacipretty I think he'd be in our top six. Other than that good work.

that's like swaping Kane for Brayden and adding another RHD which jets don't need and they add Clitsome big no from jets.

All of those deals are terrible value for the other teams except for the Florida deal oddly.

I'd do Brayden Schenn, Luke Schenn, Wayne Simmonds and a 2nd for Max Pacioretty and Nathan
Beaulieu

Kimmo Timonen and a project prospect like maybe Straka to a playoff team for a 1st.

Trade Jakub Voracek, Scott Hartnell and Nick Cousins to wpg for Evander Kane.

Trade our 2 1sts and Braydon Coburn for the pick that lands Aaron Ekblad

Sign Dan Boyle for 2-3 years to help develop Ekblad
Sign Dan Girardi
Sign Marian Gaborik
Sign Al Montoya

Kane-Giroux-Gaborik
Pacioretty-Couturier-Lecavalier
Read-Laughton-Downie
Rinaldo-Hall-Rosehill/VandeVelde

Ekblad-Boyle
Girardi-Streit
Grossmann-Beaulieu
Gustafsson

Mason
Montoya

I wonder if there's a team with less homegrown talent on their roster then us. Couturier was drafted by us by a pick they traded for, Read was signed as an overage free agent, and Giroux was drafted by the Flyers as well as developed. I'm honestly struggling to think of many other players that the Flyers drafted themselves.

I don't understand the love for Dan Girardi. Don't most Rangers fans not want him resigned because he slows and doesn't make good decisions with the puck?

I really want the Flyers to try to trade or offer sheet Vladimir Sobotka. I love that kid and I think he would be a great fit on a third line here. I know we have a ton of centers but he's ridic on faceoffs(62%), he's good on the PK and he's one of those guys that's a jack of all trades. Perfect third line center IMO. If we could swing laughton for an NHL ready defenseman, I'd look to make that deal.

Sometimes it's not the big moves that make a difference.

So he'd fit here perfectly.

Unless the Flyers trade one of their pricey defenseman it seems like they will only have around $6 million to sign a free agent if they are happy to use once again put Pronger on LTIR right away.

Pronger will be on LTIR so that's essentially 11,000,000.

I'd like to atleast see them trade Hartnell. Maybe bring in a guy like Gaborik.

I agree with things in Bold. That Defense would not be very good. I dont know what kind of player Clitsome is, but I'm sure I'd rather have Grossmann in that spot.

And most of your deals end up with us getting a much better player than we've traded.

Also, with all those trades, our team just got so young that our prospects wont even have a chance to get on the roster

Lets try.

Trade:

Voracek+ for first line winger (E.Kane-35%)
Trade Coburn+ for upgrade (Byfuglien-35%)
(Voracek+Coburn+Read+picks)
Trade Read for picks or package if needed.
Trade Lecavalier back to his home.
Trade for Stewart(picks)
Re-Sign Mason under 3,5milj.
Re-Sign Schenn under 1,5milj
Re-Sign Emery under 1milj.
Re-Sign Downie under 3milj.
Sign Phaneuff.
Sign Callahan.
Sign Ott.

Roster Size Upper Limit Cap Payroll Avg. Bonuses Cap Space
21 $71,100,000 $70,862,167 $212,500 $237,833

Hartnell-G-Kane
Stewart-Schenn-Simmonds
Callahan-Couturier-Downie
Laughton-Ott-Rinaldo

Phaneuff-Byfuglien
Streit-Girardi
Schenn-Grossman

Mason
Emery

Other option are to do all those trades for picks. Tank the team with prospects.

You have to have Pronger's cap hit on there to start the season. No free agent of any value will wait around till after the season starts to sign with the Flyers.

It's not essentially $11 million. It's $6 million.

That's basically a wishlist. I don't think any of your proposed trades or signings will actually happen - at least not at those cap friendly numbers.

As far as signings are concerned, everybody knows the salary cap goes up: B. Schenn will ask for Couturier money at least, Downie slighty lower than what Matt Read got, Emery stays the same or moves on and Mason shy of 4M or above.
Just my two cents...

Pacioretty is not worth schenn + schenn + simmond...he is inconsistent and the montreal analist are reporting is defensive errors and the lack of confidence. I know he is a really good scorer but he has 15 points in 25 game (12g 3a) and Schenn has 18 points in 32 game (7g 11a) with more grit to his game then patch. Pacioretty would be a good fit on the flyers but not at that price. Maybe L.Schenn Simmonds and a 3rd but I would not give more.

The main aspect would be upgrading the LW for Giroux and at least having a number 1 D(draft would be better then any ufa) + a great number 3-4.

So have Hartnell or simmonds, schenn, schenn, timonen, streit, rinaldo, 2nd 2014, 1st 2015 available.

Sign Girardi as a 3-4 for 6m
Trade to have Aaron Ekblad
Trade for a good goal scorer not sign long term (if Ryan sign 2015)

Resign Downie, Mason, emery, and rfa's

One main reason I want to sign Dan Girardi is because that would make Coburn expendable. I believe Girardi is a better all around defenseman than Coburn, but Coburn would warrant a lot of interest on the trade market(looking at you Edmonton, Ottawa, and Carolina) and those teams would probably be willing to pay a pretty penny for him.

I still hunt for that number one. We need a big named defender to list his frustrations with another city(looking at you PK Subban, who last reported by the fourth period that negotiations aren't moving) I would try to package Schenn+Morin(We know Montreal likes him a lot)+1st from 2015(people will say that's not enough, that is a significant package though) for him if there is any indication he is available. I remember Bobby Mac also said if he isn't getting close to a deal with Montreal other teams will start calling to see if they have an asking price. I know a lot of us don't like him, but man he would be everything we need on our back end(mobility, Booming shot, great first pass, PP QB, and most importantly young) for us to build around. A first pairing of Girardi and Subban would instantly make us a contender I believe.

Or Shea Weber

OR

Bobby Ryan.

Trading significant spots up in the draft is rarely done, so I really don't see that happening.
