no way, i would not give up a first rounder for a player who has not played in the NHL. Even though the Rangers dont draft well in the first round of late.

Don't worry, the Kings would hang up the phone.
BTW, a first round pick has not played in the NHL either.
I wouldn't. I'd drive Marty to JFK myself. Make him a thermos of cocoa as well.
Straka's been great. But if I can get a player who could be a mainstay on the blueline for the next 15 years, you gotta do it.
agreed, Straka is having a great year but he isn't a spring chicken, he almost didn't even play in the NHL this year. He was contemplating retirement or playing in the Czech. You get a chance to trade for a young top 2 dman for him you do it in a second.
Straka for JJ? Done and Done. Yes the move breaks up arguably the best line in hockey right now but this team is not built to be a championship team. Dealing an aging Straka and his $3.1 million contract for an young elite defenseman not only sets up this team to have the best defense in the NHL in a couple of seasons but frees up more cap space to sign or trade for a younger #1 center.
That would be great but would Sather EVER make a move like this? I think not.

Would Sather make such a move? Probably not, the man's an idiot. But why on earth would the Kings do this deal? Trading a future defensive stud for Straka, whom I love but who does not have much time left as a top-line player.
A better question would be if the Kings GM would do that
lol this is true but Sather would have to think of this idea first in order for him to approach the Kings GM with the offer. Would Sather ever even consider thinking about something like this? lol nope.
