Rate Komisarek play

Following a post I read on the Kings forum with which I totally disagreed, I decided to make this poll to confirm or deny my evaluation of Komisarek.

You can read the post #47 by yourself

I just posted in that Kings thread before seeing your poll... that post made no sense what so ever...

No self respecting Habs fan give Komi any flak!

Habs 3rd best d-man this season and their best defensive and most physical d-man. Far and away the best d-man we have under contract for next season.

I put down "very satisfied". And I wouldn't trade him for Cammalleri, that's for sure. Not even for two Cammalleris.

He's been so so for the last month. Subpar compared to how he started the year.

At the end of last year and the begining of this season Komisarek has begun to show why he was a 1st round selection. He will only continue to imporve and I would be pissed if the Habs traded him for Cammalleri.

Not sure what that guy was on, I don't recall Komi taking any stupid penalties at all this year.

I also think Komi's offensive ability is underrated. As he works to get better over the next few years, I'll bet we'll see his offensive game improve dramatically. Obviously he's not going to be an offensive defenceman, but once his timing and shot come around, he could be a PP fixture and get some points.

Interesting stat:
Komisarek @ 180 NHL games - 6 goals
Souray @ 180 NHL games - 4 goals

I agree, things have been lackluster in the past month... but I have faith that Komi's consistency will improve with experience.

Go Habs

The only problem I see with Komisarek so far is that he's playing MUCH better when paired with Markov than with anybody else.

I'd also like to see him have a little more creativity (for lack of a better word) in the transition game.

I am very satisfied by is work with markov. I would like him to be a better player while not paired with Markov too...

Satisfied - He kinda slowed down in December after an incredible start. Id like to see him get better every game instead.

Still it's ages form what we've seen last season, god bless Carbo and Gainey they gave him a chance to play.

Satisfied

I voted satisfied. Not because I am disappointed, but rather because I think there is room to play better.

Glad to see somebody on the Habs blueline corps that can make the big hit without totally putting himself out of postion afterward. Komi is playing with confidence. I like what he is doing for us.

I'm lunatik or Komisarek was by a wide margin better in the first 25 games then the last couple one ?

Put me down for "Very satisfied."

He's been one of my favourite Habs this year. There's room for improvement sure, but we're noticing a progression. (Although he has slowed down a bit, but so has the rest of the team.) Overall though he's getting better and better and he works very well with Markov. Every year, and almost every game (especially early in the year) you could see him improving, to the point where he's one our most reliable dman after Markov.

I think that the LA poster might have been confusing Komo with Rivet. Hab fans have been impatient with Komisarek, but he's been steadily improving this year and has shown he can be a solid shut down guy in this league. He's still young too, so who knows how good he'll end up, but I like the mean game he plays.

As for taking bad penalties, I donno, it's not as though he's Niinimaa out there. The weakness in his game is still outlet passing and contributing offensively, but his physical game has been very impressive and his positional play has greatly improved. He knows where to stand, when to go for the hit, where Markov will cover for him, knows to clear the front of the net and make the safe and smart plays out on the PK etc...

A sidenote, I always found it odd how he can be such a bad*** on the ice and just destroy people, but he's so soft spoken and polite off the ice.

Bottom line is: Komosaurus rocks.

You would be correct. Coincidentally (or maybe not), it's right around the time this flu epidemic. I have confidence though. I went with very satisfied overall this season. He is a rock.

One interesting phenomenon that I've thought about, because a fellow poster brough it up once, was that defensemen drafted from the NCAA seem to be much more likely to take wrist shots from the point. Komi is the perfect example of this, and often gets his shots blocked. I'd like to see him get his slapshot off quicker. There are times for wristshots, for example when the goalie is screened in front of the net so he can't hear the sound of your stick hitting the ice on a slapshot. Overall though, we know he possesses a great heavy shot, I'd like to see the staff get him to use it more.

You're not a lunatic... I'd have to agree, Komi started off on fire this year and within the last week or two has slowed down a bit. At the same time, I think he's done a much better job taking fewer penalties lately compared to the first four to six weeks of the season.

His shot could use some work, but given that he's as young as he is I'd say very satisfied.

Edited to add, where in the world does this person get the idea that the Montreal fans don't like Komi? Anytime I've heard a Habs fan say anything negative about Komi it's always followed by, "But he's young, he'll get better."

The Habs are so well respected since Komisarek (born leader, will be our #1 shutdown defenseman for many years) and Higgins (all skill/heart/speed) have joined the Habs, and for many reasons...

What's this rumour about Cammalleri? I don't care if you give me 3 Cammaleris...Komisarek better be a Hab for a long, long time...we draft him at "lucky 7th overall" and what? Trade him? No way!! We're so lucky to have Komisarek and Higgins (two great pals). All these rumours (especially involving Komisarek) are FALSE. You build the Habs with Komi and Higgs...

They are absolutely untouchable (IMO).

I guessing that "Hollywood" (the poster in the Kings board thread) is a none other than a bitter Ron Hainsey.

A bit of gastronenteritis might explain his play of late?
