Really? I see opposing players do that to our players every game, yet they don't get suspended because they're either stars or players that play like that so much that the league has gotten used to their shenanigans. Double standard as usual, Brendan Shanahan is acting like the worst disciplinarian in NHL history as usual.

Oh well, at least it gets Potter out of the lineup for a few games.

Sedin's elbow to RNH was clearly intentional...but who gets suspended...

Potter gives Bonino a little push from behind, Then he appears to jump into the boards..then looks up towards the Ref at the end..Even Potter goes WTF....
Bonio sold that, like a cheap suit on Black Friday...

He barely touched him. It's not Potter's fault that Bonino has the balance of a 2 year old trying to skate for the first time. Hell, it looks like he would have fallen even if no one was there.

It's almost like refs dislike poor teams. Potter barely touched Bonino, and I really am not a fan of Potter and could care less that he's suspended.

And yea, that Sedin hit on RNH is questionable. I don't know if he intended to hit him in the head or what.

I don't think the 2 games was totally justified, but I can understand it.
the players have been showing a drastic decrease in respect for each other. especially this last month or so.
there has to be consequences. (and not the Kavis Reed kind )

When you're calling for the league to protect you from a Sedin, you know your team is in trouble.

I'm not going to shed any tears over missing Potter for two games, but this was a ******** suspension. Bonino was plenty far enough away from the boards that the hit was not reckless. Who expected him to launch through the air like that? Five and the game was more than ample punishment.

I don't mind that hit actually.

For hits to the head the big indicator is whiplash. Sedin makes contact with the head but he also makes contact with the chest-shoulder area as well. If Sedin targeted the shoulder and not the head at all, then RNH would have had whiplash, which can cause damage itself but also cause the player to fall awkwardly which can be more damaging than the hit itself in these cases.

Judging by how RNH reacted to the initial contact and how he hit the ice, I think there was a very low chance of injury. Maybe part of that is how well RNH takes hits (true) but nevertheless it doesn't look bad to me.

I don't really have any problem with the suspension, but Riley Nash got off with worse than that...

however, I am fine with not having Potter in the lineup for 2.
I agree somewhat, but even if intent isn't there these guys need to be suspended for these types of hits. Like Rishaug I think these are the most dangerous types of hits and are the ones that need to be taken out of the game. Regardless of intent or injury the NHL needs to crack down on these.

Question now becomes, how much softer does Potter play?

And Mcsorley barely tapped Brashear with his stick.

Did Corey Potter his a guy directly in the numbers into the boards? He did, and it's damn lucky the guy didn't break his neck, 2 games isn't enough. Such braindead play.

Anyone even thinking about "defending" Potter should just put your head down in shame.

Don't mind the suspension, don't care to lose the player for two games, but that verdict is totally inconsistent with the way the league typically handles these. It was a push/mild cross-check, and Potter has no history and there was no injury. Yet we've seen players do much worse with a history leading to injury get less or no punishment. It's a BS call plain and simple, but if it became the new standard for everyone else, I'd be okay with it. Sadly it won't and when RNH gets knocked out for the season on a similar play, we won't see any suspension.
