Hide the women and children..Snider wants changes!

and your first round draft pick....the meddler in chief..not happy

Quote:
They lost three games lately they should have won – all on the road.

And the Flyers remain three points out of a playoff berth, and that’s one point further back than where they were a few weeks ago.

All of which is of concern to Flyers chairman Ed Snider, who indicated Monday there may be some changes. A trade, perhaps?

“I think we have to take a long hard look at where we are and where we are going,” Snider said Monday at the Wells Fargo Center during a Flyers Wives charity event. “We’re always doing that and we will continue doing it. Whatever we can do to help the team get over the hump, we will do. Obviously, we’re not happy with giving up third-period leads. This is something that can be corrected and that is something we are going to do. However we have to do it.”

That's a quote from after the most recent loss, Timmy is spinning it a bit with a misleading title to make us think he's got some inside information. what a hack.

I don't doubt the Flyers are looking to improve but they should be looking to improve in the future, not for this year. I can't see a feasible scenario where the Flyers make some moves and this team becomes a contender. If that's not the case then there's no point in a trade other then to move some vets for futures (Hartnell, Kimmo etc). I would welcome those changes.

Yup, they just have to find a way into the playoffs and "who knows?" As if all 16 teams are equally likely to win.

Meh. That is kind of just stating the obvious. Every team is always looking to improve and make changes that will benefit the team. I don't think it has anything to do with "meddling."

It just sounds as if Mr. Snider was talking about working harder to right the issues not trade players
Timmy is a hack job

The biggest thing to be taken from that article is evidence that Mr. Snider is more involved with his team than any other NHL owner, and most NFL/MLB/NBA owners.

How often are other owners interviewed? I mean those not named Jerry Jones, of course. While it's his choice to do so as owner, if he has no faith in his GM, then he needs to find one he does trust - then let that person do his job without interference.

We, as fans, don't need to see yet another kneejerk move that doesn't help the team beyond this year.

I would say that is the definition of "nothing is off the table".

While I agree with Snider...just worried about how his public pronouncement might pressure Holmgren into a reactionary move that will be more about improving where we are now (mired in mediocrity and no playoff birth) and not where we should be going (on a sustainable path)...

When they fired Lavi he did say they were going to see if some of the players they have are overrated so this is just Snider continuing with a veiled threat to trade players.

I'm not against it..just against Holmgren doing it and feeling pressured to do so.

I don't think it's the owner's place to be making those kinds of statements publicly. At minimum, as you mention, it makes people think he is pressuring the GM to make moves. And at worst, it's Jerry Jones.

Snider is not on a level of Jerry Jones meddling but he is pretty close. If he fires Holmgren and names himself GM then I would be worried. haha

Realistically, what could they possibly do that could make this team worse? Make a deal, who cares. Anything they do couldn't possibly hurt... Unless you trade the 1st.. That would be dumb.

Honestly, other than Giroux, Couturier, Mason and our 1st rounder, I'm putting everything on the table, auction style.

Your list includes pretty much the only players and pick that would be attractive to other teams. No one wants Adam Hall, Hal Gill, or Zac Rinaldo. Everyone else is either not appealing, underperforming, or has a No Trade clause.

I don't want Holmgren trying to rebuild this team. If that is what Snider has in mind when he says they have to see where they are at now and where they are going then I want Holmgren to step down before he spins his wheels again trying to assemble a legit contender....

yup. As much as Hartnell and Simmonds have been driving us nuts the Flyers would have to take pennies on the dollar for them. GMs only care about what have you done for me lately. they dont care Simmonds had a career year 2 seasons ago.
the poster did not mention Matt Read who would have value on the trade block.

GMs do tend to overpay at the deadline though.
