How sad is it we need someone to have a once in a lifetime game or a goaltender to stand on his head, at times literally, to win A game against a playoff team?

These Oilers are the worst team I've ever seen at anticipating where a puck is going to be. We lose every puck race because we don't start skating until we see where it's going... meanwhile the other team already figured it out and has a guy there.

I wonder how long it'll take for Hall to request a trade.

I opened it up today. There was a simple card thanking us for being a sponsor. After that a pair of blue oiler mittens.

Like the hockey team, it was disappointing.....
I don't understand what is wrong with the mittens? Is this usually a different type of gift?
There were times tonight when I really enjoyed watching and thought our team was right in this game. And then....
How often has pulling the goalie been working for us? I know it can be a good strategy, but it doesn't seem to work for us. Maybe the times it doesn't work are standing out for me.

Line combos, Perron doesn't play well with Gagner or Yakupov.

Bryzgalov was good. Too bad the rest of the team stunk.
Were losing no matter what line combos we throw out , there is no fn structure no break out plays nothing . Eakins thought he was going to come into a team that was making strides from last season whip them into shape and everything else fall into place. And were stuck with this clown for the rest of the season and at least 20 games into next season when he will have us out of the race by then as well. Never as a Oiler fan have I ever had a helpless feeling like this 0 optimism left in me 0.

Did Arcobello play after he got flattened by Doughty?

Some idiot just called into CHED and suggested Sean Avery might be the answer to our problems

When he mentions it like that, I would be worried if I'm working for the management. They need to wake up, before he requests a trade. Its gotten to that point, where I really do believe Hall wants out of this losing pathetic culture.

Yeah, Eakins hasn't shown much of anything but enough blaming the coach. It's the damn players who lack fundamentals, preparation, compete, desire, focus etc. We've had how many coaches in the past 5-6 seasons, what has it produced? Season upon season of mediocrity regardless. The players continually show NO improvement, and arguably show regression and relapse into really piss poor decision making on the ice and/or terrible habits learnt in junior.

He (meaning MacT) has to shake it up completely, and by that I mean trade someone off their young core -- a) to clear a top 6 spot for someone else much better at competing, and b) because they have all become far too ****ing complacent and comfortable. You'd think this is beyond obvious but clearly it isn't to that FUBAR organization we all are supposed to cheer for.

Dunno if it'll be Hall, although Hall/Eberle seem like "big city" kids. But they have each other (Hall/Eberle). And Gagner has a good situation going for him.

Yakupov/Perron/RNH though, those guys could request a trade any time now. If I was Perron, I'd be counting down my days till trade deadline day so I could get my ass right straight out of here. Just his luck, right?

not really...i am yet to see the reason the kid was considered and picked at 1st over all.

his goal scoring last season was not impressive as some make it seem, considering when his goals came and against the standard of teams.

I would consider moving him with Gagner and the 1st to balance out the line up, and maybe this team can make a decent run to finish the season strong for something to look forward to next season.

I have an inkling he just might if the team keeps playing like this. He isn't playing well this year and to me does not look like a happy player compared to when he first broke into the league. No excuses, but it would be hard to fault the kid looking for greener pastures when he keeps playing for a rudderless organization. It needs to be repeated again, the team has no identity.

Why fans didn't like him? He was too positive and stood by his word to never coach through the media.

A lot of fans want a coach who will step into a press conference and say what they(the fans) are thinking - the players suck, so-and-so can't play defense, etc. Even Eakins is getting nailed with fan complaints that he isn't throwing the team under the bus after every loss.

People will always complain about the coach though. There are fans in Detroit who want Babcock fired, and I even remember fire Quenneville threads in years the Hawks won cups.

Unfortunately, most of the complaints about Eakins can be attributed to the fact that he is a terrible coach whose systems and inability have directly contributed to the team tanking the season before the first month was over. There really is no doubt now approaching the half way point of the season, Eakins is a significant downgrade in coaching ability to Kreuger with far inferior results, which is just sad considering he has a better roster to work with compared to the **** Kreuger got by with last year.

The top two lines should be: Hall - Nuge - Yak

Perron - Arco - Eberle

Why haven't they tried this??

The only thing that will stand between Hall and a trade is Katz. I honestly think Katz would demand the entire coaching staff and management be fired before losing his precious wunderkinds.
