Is MSG losing advertisers?

just curious, but ive noticed more and more msg program related advertisements on MSG rather than product spots.

i wonder if that network is in trouble.

Ever since they lost the Yankees the network has seemed to resort to more and more MSG program related commercials. A few years ago those "Nate Robinson" commercials were just awful.

As bad as the Rangers' commercials are, they're like Citizen Kane compared to the Knicks' commercials.

The ones with the cardboard cutouts from last season weren't bad, but they get tired after seeing them 400 times (much like the Shanny/Granger one we have this season).

It's been pretty much Panasonic and MSG promo's since last season, iirc.

The fact that MSG doesn't need to run other commercials should tell you that they're doing just fine financially.

They show alot of those anti-smoking ad's on MSG..but I see those on every channel now...earlier in the year they showed endless Hummer ads, but those have stopped for the most part..yeah there really aren't alot of outside commercials anymore. I don't exactly think they have a ton of sponsors knocking down the door to advertise for the Rangers and Knicks, but with the money they have, I'm pretty sure they aren't in any sort of financial trouble.

The Knicks ads last year were ok..they were better than those dumb ones this year with the random "fans" telling stories. The Bobby Granger ads are really overplayed - and I only see the Shanahan ad and the Kaspar one anymore.

The spots with the "fans" are painful. Like any real Knick fan would be losing themselves over this team in a commercial. Then we have the guy from 2002-03, who I'll never forget, blurting out that Bure would score 70 goals. This when scoring was at like a 40 year low (the league leader that year had less than 50) and when Bure's knees were betraying him. But hey, if people hear some paid "fan" talking about someone scoring 70 goals for the Rangers 400 times in a commercial they're bound to tune in.

Exactly, that means they can afford not to make money in that 30 seconds or so. MSG's fine.

MSG advertisements, plus those annoying NHL Center Ice ads.

"I thought you said the van was home!"

It's January -- slowest month of the year for advertising. Watch the broadcast networks and you will see the same thing happening.

Rock should be cave, didn't you watch it a million times like the rest of us?

The first commercial was semi-comical, now the caveman thing is just obnoxious.

I agree 100% on both counts.

And yeah the people who discussed this years' Knicks commericals were right... they are worse than the Nate Robinson ones. Doesn't one go something like:

"Ever stop drinking fluids so you don't have to get up during the game?"

No idiot, I go to the bathroom when there's a commercial

And I've still yet to meet a Knicks fan in real life (a die-hard).

The Geico commericals are awful. Every single one of them. The caveman ones arent funny, the hired actor ones are annoying as hell, and the gecko ones make me want to kill myself. I cant stand them. I just cant.
