Not playing tonight according to Star Tribune

General Manager Doug Risebrough put the kibosh on that: "He is not playing."

How about Saturday against Colorado? "Wait and see," Risebrough said.

"It's their call," said Gaborik, who has missed 33 games since Oct. 20 because of a groin injury. "I have nothing to say about that."

Gaborik's father, Pavol, in town for the holidays, watched Wednesday's practice from the stands. He's returning to Slovakia on Sunday, and Gaborik said, "I hope he can see me play. I don't know. Out of my hands."

It's clear the decision rests with Risebrough.

In my opinion, don't be surprised to see him back in the line-up Saturday night vs the Avalanche so daddy will be able to see him play. lol

Especially if they lose tonight; they are trailling Tampa 1-3 in the second period.

Following a 3-2 loss to the lowly Tampa Bay Lightning, let's hope that means they will bring Gabby back for tomorrows game. The reasons to play him tomorrow outweigh the reasons not to play him, and he wants to play. I don't want to see the line of Mikko/Parrish/Demitra broken, but I would love to see Gabby slip in for Parrish and see those scoring chances turn into goals.

Any predictions for Saturday?

Yay or Nay?

Because 9 times out of 10, a player is going to choose come back too soon. Every time I get sick, I skate too soon.. you can't stay away.

Risebrough also made a comment about how Gaborik may feel ready, but his conditioning isn't quite where it should be. The concern is that since he knows Gabby will give 100%, he'll get tired, and when a guy is tired and pushes it, chances of re-injury are higher.

Other side of the argument is that the only way to get in game shape is to get into games.

Ceber, all of your both-side arguments make a lot of sense.

Personally, I think the best thing to do is for Gabby to play this Saturday, which I strongly think will happen.

In order to reduce risk of re-injury due to conditioning issues, the solution can be to play him only 10-15 minutes in his first game (mostly on PP) and thereafter increase his playing time on a gradual basis. Remember that it appears Gabby is performing very well in practices.

As for his potential linemates, please folks don't forget the great performance Gabby and Demitra offered while playing together at the beginning of the season. At the time, the Wild was unbeatable in the league.

No matter what the DKP line does right now, Gabby has to play with Demitra. The team will be better off like this.

Yeah, I agree. I think we'll see a lot of line combinations though, once he comes back. Because, you know, it's Lemaire

It is confirmed, Gabby is returning tonight!

A source said Saturday morning that the right wing, who has been sidelined for 11 weeks because of an injury, will play in Minnesota's home game against the Colorado Avalanche.

they aren't just gonna put him in there full blast right away. They are easing him in with lower minutes to start with.

Don't worry with Gabby. He did indeed look rusty at times last night and did not also play much with Demitra but despite all of this, he almost gave the victory to the Wild in OT and even saw Budaj steal him a goal earlier in the game. He also had a very good scoring chance right at the end of the second period.

Lemaire wants to play it safe with Gabby, this is exactly what he has to do at the moment. Nonetheless, I was disappointed not to see Gabby and Demitra play together last night.

Expect him to play around 18min next game.

I am not 100% sure given that Gabby did not play much (we saw more of him at four-on-four) but I think he played with Walz and Radijonevic. I can't remember exactly. Lemaire kept the DKP line together but I think things are going to change in the next coming games.

As someone else said before on this board, you know it's Lemaire, expect him to juggle with his lines.

Personnaly, I can't wait to see Gabby and Demitra play together again.

He started out on the 4th line and moved up to the 3rd after he started to get adjusted. Like I said...it'll take him until the beginning of Feb till he'll be ready to play at his normal caliber.

highly doubt it's gonna take a month from him to get back to 100%

more like a couple weeks, tops

I think you are way too pessimistic. It won't take him more than 2-3 games to get back to full shape as Lemaire also suggested it. When Gabby returned from a similar injury last year, he was highly productive right back on the ice. Given the circumstances, Gabby played well on Saturday night and could have been much more productive with just a little chance.

Given that his playing time will significantly increase in the next couple of games as well as potentially the quality of his linemates, he should start piling up goals very soon.

The paper yesterday said he was playing mostly with Wyatt Smith and Branko Radivojevic.

Look for Gabby to make an impact on the offense in about a week.

Gabbie just has to get his game legs back. He mentioned in an interview in the Strib that he was worried about his groin the first couple shifts. He got hit and laid out a hit in his first couple shifts, so now its just a matter of getting his timing back.

It'll come ...
