It's not much different than Schremp.
I suppose you are right. Just feels like we could have gotten better (and by that I mean like a 4th or 5th).

Not suicidal over it, but just bleeds incompetent management to me.

Career AHLers don't fetch good prices. We're fortunate we got anything for him.

Honestly, I was expecting a 7th. A 6th works for me, and we were able to pick it up essentially for free by re-signing Omark initially, so that's fine by me.

Maybe a 5th would have been possible, but nobody was going to trade a 4th for him - that's the territory of fighters and other 13th forward NHL caliber role players, not AHL/NHL/SEL tweeners.

Comparable skills of a 40pt 2nd liner, but Swiss league speed.

Awful trade for the Oilers. They gave him away for nothing. Oiler 1st round picks aside from #1s overall rarely pan out. What a waste a 6th rounder is.

Incompetent that they got SOMETHING for a guy that cleared waivers multiple times?

Yeah, terrible asset management.

Wish him all the best. Hope he's able to succeed in Buffalo, good luck to Linus Omark!

Considering that nobody wanted him for free, I think getting something is good enough.

They should have given him a proper 15 game stretch on a top 2 line. Its not like they have anything to lose or the other guys are doing any better. If he did half descent and showed he was a NHL player could have got something.

Sigh so fed up with mismanagement in this organization.

If Ekbald is still available when we make the pick, then it would turn out to be a great deal.

He didn't the other times he was up here. What would be different this time?

Again, nobody wanted him for free! You think 29 other NHL scouts don't see that he's not an NHL player?

Yup. Pretty much this.

I'm trying (mostly unsuccessfully) to give MacT the benefit of the doubt and think that this was a move to give Linus a chance to prove himself elsewhere. But the cynic in me says we get more value for this player if he's moved in a package ... the kind of bold move MacT promised the fans. This organization doesn't have a clue how to build up the value of a player and make trades when the value is at its greatest.

Doesn't matter, Omark told MacT he wasn't staying in the AHL after Christmas. And why would he? He's clearly too good for the AHL. I watched more than a few OKC games this year and Omark soldiered on pretty well imo. Took some massive physical punishment and kept going to the net. Sure he had lousy games too, but somehow he only gets one game in the NHL (nine minutes I think it was) on a team where half the guys aren't putting out their best effort?

Maybe Linus isn't good enough. But I'm glad he's getting this chance with another organization. Good luck to him.

Total mismanagement of assets.

But hey, we have 5 rings so we know what we're doing...

Idiots. By the time these clowns are done we'll have 5 quality offensive defensemen and 12 knuckle-dragger forwards.

Were there rumors of something surrounding Omark happening before the trade broke? I heard Parkatti on with Lowetide suggesting something might go down, but I assumed at first it was just a joke.

Word was that Omark would not be staying in OKC past Christmas, he was set to walk back to Europe.

The Omark saga finally ends

Not a fan, but I hope he does more with his opportunities in Buffalo than he did in Edmonton.

Exceptionally unlikely, doubt they make any moves other than trade deadline UFA type stuff.

They were moving a player who wanted an NHL shot but doesn't fit in Edmonton, nothing more.

Being point per game in the AHL means squat if you are still -7. If he is too good for the AHL wouldnt he at least be breaking even? Granted I dont know a lot about the barons so maybe everyone is minus on the team but for being too good for a league you would think he would be pwning it not going minus
