Get rid of Hartnell for a used puck bag. Promote Raffl.

We have to wait and see what the defensemen the Flyers took later in the draft turn out to be. It might be the best of both worlds.

If the cap raises to $71.00m as projected, it is possible I guess.
I doubt Timonen will be back next season and if Homer is smart, Hartnell won't be either.

I'd like to see something like

Schenn-Giroux-Voracek
Read-Couturier-Lecavelier
Downie-Laughton-Simmonds
Raffl-Hall-Rinaldo

Some comments from Berube on Laughton

Quote:
@BroadStBull Berube says even though #Flyers have an overflow of good centers, he does not forsee Laughton moving to wing when he plays here.
Quote:
@BroadStBull Berube says Laughton is better skater than Mike Richards, but that Richards has better instincts with the puck.#Flyers

Here's a podcast where Craig Button and the Oshawa Generals GM talk about Laughton.

http://iphone.tsn.ca/tsnpodcasts/Dra...pisode%203.mp3

They start talking about Laughton at the 32:30 mark and they talk about him for about 10 straight minutes.

Some key points:

-"Special player"
-Quiet leader but players follow his lead
-Had to learn how to keep his emotions in check. Has gotten better at it. Not a player that you have to motivate but he has harnessed and channeled emotions in the right direction
-Has that "look" (which I can see haha) that just screams intensity
-Complete 200 ft. player
-His skill has surprised somewhat from when he was drafted by the Generals

This kid I think is going to be a beast in the league. Not necessarily always on the scoresheet, but he's going to be a ***** to play against on both ends of the ice. Basically pure captain material. Even with SO many other skilled players, he is the captain of that team. Reminds me of when Richards was the captain for the WJC while Crosby only had an A.

Meh, that wasn't a surprise. Richards is 100% a Sutter-type player. And Sid was 17. I don't think Canada has ever appointed a 17 year old captain.

That's because people never saw him play and just looked at his stats and labeled him with the "goon" tag. The guy had great size and soft hands. He wasn't at the top of my list but he got too much unwarranted hate around these parts. The good thing about guys like Wilson are even if they never reach their full potential on the offensive side, they add value in other parts of the game.

And the Flyers are dead last in prospects despite Laughton, Leier, Ghost and Stolarz.

If Leier and ghost were drafted by Detroit, I bet they would be much higher rated. That's why prospect rankings on any site are just for entertainment only or Edmonton would have reached the playoffs by now.

I think that is a fair assessment though. Maybe not dead last, but close to the bottom. But I am fine with them ranking us there because really only Laughton seems to be a real safe bet to have an impact in the NHL. The rest have a shot, but are far from guarantees.

Hartnell may be a buyout option if the Flyers can't trade him, hopefully there's a team out there that could use Hartnell.

Buying out Hartnell would be foolish. His cap hit isn't a big deal for what he's producing. Its not a steal but it's not ridiculous. If youre gonna buy him out, do it in two or three years when it will be an issue.

I like these lines. I also agree that Hartnell needs to go. He is just taking a spot that we can have a young guy for cheap play better. Id also like to keep hall here on the fourth line. That is just a crazy staked and young lineup.

I bet we could get a fair amount for Hartnell from a team like edm. They would be pretty happy with him as well.

Congrats Scott...one of the biggest honors a Canadian kid can have.

This is tremendous news for the Flyers and the recent years of regression in our Canadian World Junior selection process and vlaues.

Wish the Leafs would let Morgan Reilly play on Team Canada, don't know if this is the Leafs being selfish or if it's Reilly's decision(doubt it's the latter) How often do you get a chance to represent your country?

He's playing 18 minutes a game for them. Of course they aren't letting him go.

He's a professional hockey player now. There's no need to leave the team that's paying him to go play in an amateur tournament. Canada's defense will be fine without him, as long as they play to their potential.

Playing top 4 minutes & making more than 6 figures in the pros >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> playing in a junior tournament.

I highly doubt he's kicking himself over not being allowed to go to this tournament.

He's represented Team Canada in four different tournaments (including this one last year) so he's gotten the chance to suit up for them a lot so far in his young career.
