Shut down rolls are the best. I won't even eat a cheesesteak if it is not on a shut down roll.

He's too old for this tournament, won't be playing.

That is a pretty ridiculous team. Not real familiary with the Oilers so maybe I got some positions or depth chart things wrong. But damn. I'd be worried about playing that team.
One big problem they have though is they have 1 good defensive forward atm (Gordan), and then 2-3 average... and the rest blow on D.

And that forward group is going to be ~40-41 million most likely next year if they have that composition. Not awful due to D elcs... but one of the highest in the NHL still, and they are not setting the world alight. Though Hall at 6mill for infinity is daylight friggin robbery.

I think they have to address that, probably by trading one of their young offensive forwards.

If I were them I would trade Yakupov for a top ten pick and go after a guy who projects to be like Couture, Johanson, Huberdeau, Couturier in the draft. It would make a lot of sense to add something like that who could make the team more rounded. Only as you cannot pass on Ekblad if you are them!

Jared McCann may be who I would like to get if I was Oilers GM. If he developed as he should, even if he tops as a 50 point guy it would make the team better than taking another offensively dynamic but subpar defensively or physically forward.

Nice...

Did not know you were Schoeninger! Duno how I missed that.

I've quoted a few of your articles recently, and I really like some of the advanced stats and deeper analysis ones, IMO you do some great work... and I hate most hockey writers! But you obviously care and know what you are writing about, obviously I do not agree with everything but overall you do a great job. Keep it up.

If the Oilers are bad enough for two more top 2 picks in the next two draft, the entire front office and coaching staff will be fired by then. The natives are already getting restless. I could see them willing to move their 1st rd pick this year even if Ekblad is there.

And of course the obligatory trash talking on the Flyers. As soon as "goaltender" and "Flyers" come up together in conversation you know they'll find a way to take shots haha.

Aren't Haag, Leier, and Ghost all #14? Just thought of that and if true that's a funny coincidence.

Sadly, Ghost isn't playing this year. Was an overager when we drafted him.

I'd love to have Eichel. Not as dynamic as McDavid, but Eichel seems very slick and pushes very hard each shift.

That was a very Flyers like goal USA just gave up.

By that I mean the Flyers would give up a goal like that

Stolarz couldn't do anything on those 2 goals.

1) Dude all alone right in front of the net on the PP. Guy from behind net fed it to him for nice goal.

2) Goal shouldn't have counted.

Hagg helped save 2 goals in his last two shifts by tying up his man.

Both times they had an almost empty net if he did not.
