So I just dropped Zack Kassian to reactivate Jakob Silfverberg off of IR. Bad move? Good move?

I think so too, I know Kassian is still only 22 but he has done nothing to impress me. I also think the Canucks got straight up hosed on that trade. Hodgson looks pretty good.

so Canes and Caps are playing tonight

if Canes win they take our spot and we will be only 3pts away from the caps

if Caps win they will be 5pts ahead of us and we keep our playoff spot

i want the Canes to win this game, how about you?

This was my exact thinking but knowing the Caps, they'll probably win in a damn shootout.

Might seem hard to believe, but this Jets/Panthers game has been awesome. Well worth the watch if you can get it.

Arguably all the games went the Flyer way tonight.

23-18-6 from now on for the Flyers to have a good chance of the playoffs.

25-17-5 to 26-16-5 to be virtually a lock.

Considering they are 16-12-4 since Berube took over and 15-8-4 after the Berube mini camp they should do so long as they do not **** the bed.

Blue's good and Red is bad , the size of the circle determines how good or how bad

Everyone on the top right side of every single one of those charts is blue usually so long as they are on a decent team.

If you are not you may as well be in a coffin... as you are useless.

Red or Blue indicates positive or negative corsi.

But Read at just under 0 (-0.92) with the 2nd hardest minutes on the team is better than Hartnell with the 2nd or 3rd easiest minutes among all forwards. (Jake and Simmonds are arguably easier.)

The same goes for Grossmann, insanely hard minutes for a D man with the 2nd hardest QoC but >45% zine starts.... it would frankly be amazing if Grossmann was positive.

Also Hall with 25% zone starts mean that + is a virtual impossibility.

Which is why Couturier is so impressive being positive with his minutes.

No!

It is great for academic work, socialising (well, before certain people get annoyed with me!) or problem solving etc...

But awful for things like sleeping, concentrating on things that do not interest me or stopping talking.

Flames - Pens game under way.

Pittsburgh has an 1 goal lead (it's 4-3 Pens right now) with half of the 3rd period to play but the Flames show a lot heart and enthusiasm.

Will be a tough one in the Saddledome for the Flyers.

Crosby slewfoots Giordano, then cross-checks Giordano in the slot. Once he realizes he's called for the penalty, Crosby dives to draw attention off his cross-check.

Typical.

So basically everyone who's red and right of the 50% o-zone starts is bad and everyone blue and left of that mark is good right?
That's pretty awesome stuff.
Have you done this yourself? If yes, might one to put a vertical line at the 50%-mark to make it look more BCG-ish.

Yeh, kind of, though not always I reckon! Though it is more complicated when QoC, GA/60, SV%, PDO, zone start movement (start to finish) are also added in!

I reckon if you are top left or bottom left red should be almost expected.

Zone starts are probably the biggest indicator of whether positive or negative Corsi is 'tolerable'.

In 2011-12 (last full season) there were 4 forwards >45% zone with both positive Corsi On and Corsi Rel (with more than 50 games played) out of 71 forwards with >45% zone starts! That is before QoC is even looked at.

The best was probably Goc with +9.2 and +4.7... no-one else had over +1.5 for both Corsi measures!

Among D that year there was only 1 with >45% zone starts who was positive (Nikitin) out of 26 with 45% or less.

So being negative with >45% zone starts is the norm even for great defensive players.

4/71 F and 1/26 D being positive over the last full season among players generally considered to be the best on their team defensively pretty much tells the story!

So far this year there are 7 forwards who are not playing minimal (10 or less) minutes a night ES positive in both while having >45% starts. Out of 84... those figures will drop as the year goes on.

I think it would be posible to make better charts... by averaging the Corsi of players over the last few years in brackets of zone starts and brackets of QoC, and having red or blue for above or below average in their bracket. So yeah, effectively add a line every 5% zone start with the average Corsi of such players listed at the top and red or blue within their bracket.

But QoC would maybe be impossible due to different teams etc. Choosing brackets would be hard as hell, and different for each team.

I think it is hard to do... maybe not team by team, but player by player. I feel you can discern if players are good defensively by looking at ~3 seasons and looking for certain markers and consistency each year, but it would be hard to put it down.

(So I look for decent Corsi in comparison to guys with similar zone start and QoC, as well as GA/60 compared to their peers, linemates and teammates, then qualify GAOn/60 that against on ice SV% and PDO... to ensure they are not just super lucky... so if Sv% is below ~925 it is probably not overly lucky, or PDO is not too far over 1000 they are not either, both will not directly sway Corsi, but ofc they impact heavily on GAOn/60. But you have to kind of know the players as well I feel to help discern easily if it maybe is an outlier or luck... and then try and find out the reason it could be luck or an outlier, or if they are legitimately turning into a better player. Which is very subjective ofc among some fringe guys or non established.)

Whenever I stop to wonder if I would like him more if he weren't a Pen, I consider all the garbage he pulls and realize I still wouldn't be able to stand him.
