Kovalev is the best player we've had the past decade. I'd take pre 2008 Kovy every damn day of the week.
I don't think people understand how much of a game-breaker he his.
Ok. He's not trash. Good player during a mediocre time. And he's not better than PK so best player? Not really.
I'm just looking forward to a better time built aroud potential elite players such as PK, Price and Galchenyuk. So dreaming about good players from the past isn't that interesting to me. Especially when I can still remember times before that like 93 when we actuwlly had superstar players.
Well, DD isn't the worst option there because at least he can set up PK and Gallagher for 1-timers or put the puck down low to Pacioretty for a jam play or cross crease pass to Markov. However that's about the extent of it. Galchenyuk should, in time, be QB'ing the PP from there as he can do the same thing in addition to being a shooting threat from there.
We sixth in PP in the league behind Pens (Crosby, Malkin, Kunitz), Was (Ovechkin, Backstrom), Chicago (Toews, Sharp, Kane), Toronto (Kessel, Kadri) and St-Louis (Steen).
Galchenyuk will be one top PP scorer but he is not there yet.
Everything goes through Markov-Subban. It is one of the most uncoordinated PPs I have ever seen. And the second wave is entirely useless because the pointmen suck.
