Yes they amputated the whole leg because it helps with balance apparently.
Thanks.

It's amazing how well dogs adapt to the loss of a leg. Have seen a few with three legs and sometimes I have to do a double take because you'd never know they lost it with the way they still run and play. Hoping she has many more healthy and happy years with you... I bet she's an absolute sweetheart.

Were going through the vet association so that we can get his license taken so he can't touch another animal. The sick thing is a few days later another person posted that he wrapped there dogs legs wrong and luckily saw the swelling early and cut the casts off themselves

Maybe contact local news stations, they might be interested in a story like this.

Sucks for the dog, but it'll be 'normal' in no time hopefully. I've seen tons of 3 legged dogs, they never seem like they're hating life.

Casts and wrappings on animals are very tricky procedures that require constant monitoring to avoid swelling and loss of circulation. I know this is of no consolation to you or your pup. That's a sad story.

Hope everything else works out okay.

The cast was wrapped where it covered the whole paw. All that could be seen was two toes where we constantly looked at and noticed the nail falling out.

I enjoyed Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgandy, but holy cow, I didn't expect this.

I'm a bit of a pretentious dick when it comes to comedy, but tonight I laughed harder than I have in a long time. It might have been the crowd, which was very involved and influential to the atmosphere of the theatre, but I swear it was a good time.
I'll second this. I loved the first Anchorman but expected a disappointment from the second. It wasn't as good as the first but it was damn funny

The vet there put a cast completely wrong on our 14 week old lab cross. it sadly ended in amputation because the vet wrapped it so tight the it caused soars and her paw to swell 5 times the size after opening the cast only 5 days later. After trying to treat the soars and swelling, they opened to big to save and caused the paw to die, to the point where her toes fell off from no circulation. The vet took zero responsibility and claimed that her soars were normal complications.

Take your pets to Guardian or Hermitage. Don't want to see another animal go though this.
Guardian is expensive if you dont have pet ins. 1000$ a night if your pet needs to stay over after surgery....trust me i know. Although they do very good work and take good care of your pet. There is always a vet and an assistant there 24/7 to look after the animals. If on the southside go to Calgary trail pet hospital and see Kathy, she specializes in larger dogs

Sorry to hear about this very bad situation. Places like this need to be red flagged. I don't know how someone screws up something like this. This could have been prevented.

Very sorry for your loss. We had to put down our dog months ago. My daughter wanted to be there but broke down and I had to comfort here. He was one of the family but it was time.

To the person who suggested it, this is not a police matter.

Maybe not the police, but maybe the news. Try troubleshooting reporters. They can help build awareness.

That's awful. If you can sue them, I hope you do. They deserve to be taught a lesson.

This was forwarded to me by a friend of mine on FB last week. We have a mutual friend it seems as it was a forward of a personal profile post.

Terrible. I am an avid supporter of animal rescue and proper ethics regarding pets. I saw this and it really made me mad. Poor dog.

Great Vets worth the drive are Spruce Grove Vet and Stony Plain Vet Clinic.

For people in the west end, crestwood is the best veternary clinic I've ever used. They were the only ones that took the time and were able diagnose my chocolate lab with addisons disease.

I talked to a guy in the Sherwood Park location and he said the 2 ones out here aren't doing it. I would imagine that South Common probably is due to the location and maybe West Edmonton. The Superstore is going 24/ 7 which surprised me.

I was very surprised to find south common was not open, if I'm not mistaken there was a time they were 24/7 year round. I decided to try the west supercentre last night, they were actually open.

Got to say Anthony Bourdain's The Layover has quickly become one of my favourite shows. Watched his episodes on Montreal, Toronto and Dublin tonight, great stuff.

They don't even have enough staff to run the store with regular hours, not shocking that most aren't doing the 24 hour thing.
