2000s:
  • October 11, 2000 -- The teams played to a 3-3 tie in Minnesota. Eric Desjardins' (8 shots) goal midway in the third period finished the scoring. Peter White (2-0-2) scored twice for the Flyers, including the first goal of the game, with Rick Tocchet (0-2-2) assisting on both. Brian Boucher made a terrific save on Marian Gaborik in the closing minute of regulation. Manny Fernandez made 36 saves for the Wild. Philly held a 7-2 shot advantage in OT and 39-22 in the game. Gino Odjick and Andy Sutton fought -- ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VwO4E4_6F50 ). Mark Recchi suffered a concussion and missed 13 of the next 14 games. A sellout crowd of 18,827 witnessed an elaborate pre-game ceremony signifying the rich history of hockey in the state of Minnesota. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said "Minnesota and hockey is a no-brainer" and "I'm sorry we left. Bringing pro hockey back here was by far the right thing to do." It was the third regular season game for the Wild and first home game (there were two preseason games). The Minnesota North Stars last hosted an NHL regular season game on April 13, 1993.
  • March 15, 2001 -- The teams met in Philadelphia for the first time and Roman Cechmanek (15-save shutout and one assist) and Michal Sykora (1-1-2) starred in the Flyers' 3-0 victory. The shutout was the rookie's league-leading ninth of the season and fourth in his last seven starts. Since Bill Barber became head coach, Cechmanek started every home game and had a 16-3-2 home mark in 21 appearances. Rick Tocchet gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead with an unassisted PPG. Dean McAmmond, acquired two days earlier, scored in his Flyers' debut and made it 3-0; it was the only goal in his Flyers' career. The Flyers held a 36-15 shots advantage and went 2-for-6 on the PP. Manny Fernandez stopped 20 of 22 shots before suffering a sprained left ankle and was replaced by Jamie McLennan who made 13 saves on 14 shots. Prior to the game, Mark Howe was inducted as the 17th member of the Flyers' Hall of Fame.

  • December 8, 2001 -- Jan Hlavac's two goals within 42 seconds broke open a tight game and the Flyers won 5-1 in Philadelphia. Mark Recchi (1-2-3) had three points and Roman Cechmanek made 31 saves. Luke Richardson gave the Flyers a 1-0 lead, his only goal of the season and came after he missed the prior 10 games due to a fractured right foot. Richardson, who broke his right foot November 10, scored his first goal in 51 games dating to January 22, 2001. Prior to the game, Jenny Barber, the 48-year old wife of Flyers' head coach Bill Barber, died of lung cancer after an eight-month battle; the couple was married for 28 years. "For my family's standpoint, Jen and my kids thought I should be here. On top of that, I felt the same way for my players that I wanted to be here for them," said a solemn Barber.
  • February 10, 2003 -- Manny Fernandez, who returned to the lineup after missing 13 games with a knee injury, made 30 saves and Pascal Dupuis, who scored in the first period, led Minnesota to a 1-0 win in Philadelphia. The Flyers won 35 of 55 faceoffs including 12 of 15 by Keith Primeau and outshot the Wild 30-19. Todd Fedoruk fought Matt Johnson ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1luFcd6Hcf8 ) and Brad Brown.
  • February 12, 2003 -- Dwayne Roloson made 31 saves in leading the Wild to a 2-0 home win broadcast on ESPN2. Cliff Ronning's PPG snapped a scoreless tie with less than six minutes left in the second period. Wes Walz scored in the third period. Minnesota shutout the Flyers twice in three nights and two goalies made 61 saves. It was the first time an NHL team had consecutive shutouts in a home-and-home series since the Flyers did it to the Rangers in October 1999. In the last nine games, the Flyers scored just eight goals. Jim Vandermeer fought Jason Marshall in the first period. The Flyers' lone power play opportunity came in the last minute of the game.
  • November 20, 2003 -- Mark Recchi (2-1-3) starred and Robert Esche made 21 saves as the streaking Flyers (7-0-1 in the last eight) won 3-1 at home. Recchi, who scored two PPGs (the first coming on a 5-on-3 advantage), Tony Amonte (GWG, 1-1-2) and Jeremy Roenick (0-2-2) combined for seven points. The game's four goals were scored in the final six minutes of the second period. The lone goal by Minnesota was by Alexandre Daigle which tied the game 1-1. The Flyers held a 41-23 shot advantage. A lengthy scrap between Jim Vandermeer-Brad Brown: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xz4EWG_ljGQ

  • December 17, 2003 -- Eric Chouinard was traded to Minnesota for the Wild's 5th round choice (Chris Zarb) in the 2004 Entry Draft.
  • December 10, 2005 -- Branko Radivojevic scored with 53 seconds to play in the Flyers' 3-2 home victory. Radivojevic was sent on the ice as a defensive substitution but picked up a loose rebound off a Mike Knuble shot for the GWG. Antero Niittymaki made 23 saves. The Flyers led 2-0 midway though the game but the Wild eventually knotted the score on Todd White's PPG. Kim Johnsson scored for Philadelphia as did Peter Forsberg (1-1-2) who returned to the lineup after missing six games with a groin strain. The Flyers were without Simon Gagne, Eric Desjardins, Keith Primeau, Joni Pitkanen and Turner Stevenson.
  • December 5, 2007 -- Antero Niittymaki made 28 saves and Jeff Carter, the game's top star, had (1-1-2) two points in the first period in Philly's 3-1 win at Minnesota. The Wild went 1-for-8 on the PP while the Flyers failed on just two chances. The Flyers had three minors in the first 5:18 of the game but led 2-0 after the first period. After 86 seconds, the Flyers' two leading scorers, Daniel Briere and Mike Richards, were in the penalty box and Minnesota had a five-on-three power play for more than a minute. The Wild had a called goal overturned after a video review couldn't find evidence that the puck had crossed the goal line. Pavol Demitra got Minnesota on the board in the second period but Braydon Coburn made it 3-1 in the third period. Minnesota was credited with 15 hits to just one for the Flyers. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WwxWJM0RLTE

  • January 8, 2009 -- Martin Biron made 27 saves, the Flyers' PK was a perfect 8-for-8 and Mike Knuble and Scottie Upshall (1-1-2) scored in the third period in Philly's 3-1 home win. Knuble's GWG came seven seconds into a PP, the Flyers only manpower advantage in the game. The Flyers were 6-for-6 on the PK, including a kill of 1:03 of a 5-on-3, before getting a PP chance. “It’s a little frustrating. It seemed like everything we did, they were either falling down and getting the calls, or we were just trying to give a guy an extra shot, and it seemed like they were calling it on us all night," said Scott Hartnell whose tying goal in the second period ended Niklas Backstrom's attempt at three straight shutouts (149:09 of time). Mike Richards won 17 of 23 faceoffs. Brent Burns played 30:03. It was the Flyers' first home game after a 6-game road trip. Arron Asham and Eric Reitz fought -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HA6k0Qk20e8 Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n0D31JIxcPM .

2010s:
  • February 6, 2010 -- Anton Khudobin, the game's top star, made 38 saves in his first NHL start and Cal Clutterbuck and Owen Nolan scored in the Wild's 2-1 win at Minnesota. The Wild took a 1-0 lead late in the first period after miscommunication behind the net caused Michael Leighton's attempted clear to land directly on the stick of Clutterbuck. Dan Carcillo scored 16 seconds later to even the score. Nolan scored the GWG just past the midway point of the game. Minnesota beat Philly for the first time since 2003. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IvykuoTnxUU
  • March 25, 2010 -- Kyle Brodziak scored the GWG in Minnesota's 4-3 OT win at Philly. The goal came as a result of a deflection off Chris Pronger's stick after Brian Boucher made the initial stop. Afterwards, Pronger said "It's a lack of focus, a lack of concentration, a lack of desire. That game should be locked down at 3-1. This late in the season, that's just unacceptable." Philly led 2-0 at the 4:18 mark and 3-1 after two periods. Martin Havlat and Andrew Brunette scored in the third period. Niklas Backstrom made 32 saves. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0YCjDm2ASa0
  • November 24, 2010 -- Six different Flyers scored in a 6-1 victory at Minnesota. James van Riemsdyk and Jeff Carter gave the Flyers a 2-0 lead 5:32 into the game. Danny Briere (1-1-2) scored with a minute to play in the second period which made it 3-1. Ville Leino and Andreas Nodl, the game's chosen top two stars, also had a goal and an assist each. Jody Shelley's first goal of the season finished the scoring. Philly outshot Minnesota 28-16 including 20-9 through two periods (3-1 lead). Sergei Bobrovsky made 15 saves. Claude Giroux's slapper with 1:57 to play in the opening period shattered the glass and on-ice officials decided to continue the remainder of the period after the teams returned from their dressing rooms. Shelley fought Zack Kassian ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zPdAojzRVCA ). Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=er9RgUuHVDE

  • June 27, 2011 -- Restricted free agent Darroll Powe was traded to Minnesota for a 2013 3rd round pick. The Flyers traded the pick to Dallas (Nick Grossmann transaction), the Stars shipped it later to Pittsburgh and the Penguins selected Jake Guentzel.
  • January 17, 2012 -- Kimmo Timonen (PP), Sean Couturier (SH) and Scott Hartnell (PP) scored on special teams in the Flyers' 5-1 home win. Timonen scored the go-ahead tally just 2:26 into the game. Ilya Bryzgalov made 25 saves. Matt Read and Jaromir Jagr had two assists. Ex-Flyer Darrol Powe scored the lone Minnesota goal. The Wild had 12 PIMs and the Flyers committed just one minor. Highlights -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJSDZTraf4g
  • December 2, 2013 -- Josh Harding made 21 saves and the Wild scored twice in 57 seconds early in the third period of a 2-0 home win. The shots were Minnesota 15, Philadelphia 10 through two periods. Jay Rosehill-Mike Rupp fought in the second period. Claude Giroux was a perfect 8-for-8 on draws in the opening period and the Flyers won 30 of 48 in the game.
  • December 23, 2013 -- Steve Mason made 26 saves and Wayne Simmonds (2-1-3) scored twice in the Flyers' 4-1 home win. Luke Schenn gave the Flyers the lead for good 1:52 into the game and also had a game-high tying 5 hits with defense partner Andrej Meszaros. Scott Hartnell picked up the 500th point of his NHL career with an assist on the game's first goal. Simmonds made it 2-0 and later added an ENG. Minnesota's lone goal came late in the opening period with nine seconds left on a 2-man advantage that would have lasted one minute and 40 seconds. Claude Giroux (1-1-2) gave Philly a 3-1 lead in the second period on a tip of a Braydon Coburn point shot. It was the Flyers' ninth straight home win. Expecting more of the same against this team Minnesota willl play physical and annoy the Flyers who will respond with bad penalties and not be able to solve the goalie...

Since they've been on the play good, play bad rotation, tonight I expect them to play good.

Those are not going to be the wild lines. We won't know those until closer to game time.

In the spirit of Christmas, the Wild will be giving out free hugs to any Flyer that comes their way on the ice tonight.

The oft forgotten and perennially under-appreciated B-Side "Watching the Paint Dry" might be more apropos tonight. I smell a 1-0 SO Win (and not the good kind)

Backstrom is horrible at 1 on 1, Voracek should just start shooting the puck

What do you mean 'start'? He's been shooting a lot more lately, and the goals are coming.

he always tend to pass the puck for the first 30min and then he realize that we're not going to score if we don't shoot the puck

He went from questionable to probable but since he skated today, he will play tonight. He had the flu and missed the last game.

Good break for Flyers.
