Apparently the game winning goal in OT in the Phoenix-Buffalo game ended up going down Mike Smith's equipment and off his ass into the net. It's unclear if it went into his shirt or his pants or both but either way it sounds hilarious.

That Dupuis injury could have been a whole lot worse.

Definitely. The way Crosby's skate came around could have easily been another Malarchuk / Zednik situation.

That's hilarious.

Can't really fault him either. Vrbata and Stone must have been yelling "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

I wonder what goes through a trainer's head (and bowels) when they see a skate go high like that?

Did anyone else hear Milbury saying it was a bad hit? I was only half watching/listening but I thought he said it was the kind that should be out of the game... looked a great hipcheck to me. Maybe he was talking about another hit... but I would not be surprised with Milbury... the guy does have **** for brains. I mean, who else would climb into the stands, take a fans shoe off and repeatedly him them with it... then moan about unclassy players half the time.

No, he was talking about that hit. Said Methot clearly targeted Crosby's knees.

I heard that, too. Something along the lines that it was dangerous because it was low and targeted the knee. He definitely advocated getting hip checks out of the NHL.

Looked like he might have twisted his knee around while his body turned.

On the Smith own-goal, what just occurred to me after seeing the whole play is why didn't the refs blow the play down when they lost sight of the puck? At least a second passed with Smith dropping back into his own net. They didn't even have to blow the whistle; they could call intent to blow the play down.

Milbury has obviously been watching too much NFL this year and got confused!

I can't imagine Methot was going for knees... especially since the initial point of contact was seemingly the thigh area, and at that speed as well, half facing the play! You cannot exactly target with your ass in hockey pants either... if you do hit the knees you are going to hit most of the guys upper leg and some midsection at the same time.

Not like an elbow or shoulder which can ofc easily target a head and be almost the only point of contact.

Toronto is in a Islanders-like tail spin. They have some ridiculously bad numbers. Even when they were winning the stats said they were bad and relying on hot goaltending. Now that's showing itself, but they have some insanely bad numbers I've only seen teams like the Islanders put up so far.

He specifically mentioned the NFL: if you eliminate targeting the head, the next logical step is to start targeting the knee.

**** me... that is crazy talk.

Like NHL players are going to target knees with checks!

And doing so on a knee on knee happens... but it stupid as you can blow out your own.
