doesn't it really have more to do with PMB being pretty useless and at least Regin can play some type of checking role? I mean I'd waive them both & call up Strome and Lee or Sundstrom right now. But I'm not going to complain or turn this into a $ thing.

Pmb had 1 very good game this year. It was when we went to Montreal. He was flying all over the ice. If anyone remembers please add to this. I think Montreal should claim him he might light the lamp a few times. He was a totally different player that game . I remember thinking that this is a guy we could use but now he's a guy we should loseus. . By the way I am THE guy that bought THE ONE pmb isles jersey that was sold. Anyone want to buy a one of a kind? Start the bidding at $1000, $100, $17.95, $8.50, a twisted pretzel ( they are delicious) . Just pay postage and it's yours.

Regin is cheaper to healthy-scratch. The corresponding roster move was to call up Ryan Strome...AHL leading scorer.

It wouldn't work, French Canadian players only do well against Montreal.

Likely out there: Van places Z.Hamill on unconditional waivers for purposes of terminating contract and Dal places M.Fortunus on waivers.
Hamill must be on his way to Europe, Dallas must have signed Fortunus to an NHL deal (Was on an AHL deal).

LOL! That was my thought too. I guess it depends on why he's being let go. He may see it as being a gift.

I can't see something like this happening today of all days without the player's request, knowledge or consent.

Has to be! Anyone's better than yan suave. He's better than half the defenders playing for Utica and yet he's playing in the echo. He got called up to the ahl and was up a few days but didn't get in a single game and was sent back down.

Not sure how the waiver system worked with the holidays; were the 24th, 25th and 26th not a league wide freeze?

If those three days were, does that mean Polasek would have cleared waivers today at 12, or that Vancouver announced their intention but papers wouldn't have been filed until today at 12 and he's on waivers now? Or did he simply clear on the 25th at 12?

It's not a complete "freeze", actually.

Quote:
While trades, loans and moves that require waivers are prohibited during this window, there are exceptions to the freeze that allow teams to adjust their rosters in certain situations.

According to the collective bargaining agreement, players may still be recalled by NHL teams during the freeze. And players who were recalled after Dec. 11 may be loaned to the AHL up to 11:59 p.m. Dec. 23 as long as that player is not required to pass through waivers.

There’s one other exception to the roster freeze that may apply to the Capitals this year. According to Article 16.5 (d) (i) of the CBA, teams can “make any player transactions necessary” to come back into compliance with the salary cap during the roster freeze if a player is removed from the long-term injury list.
So my guess is that, as long as it's at the player's request, an exception can be made for waivers at a player's request during the freeze.

So has the freeze now been lifted or is there a specific time when that happens.

Last night at midnight is when the freeze would have been over

But even if it was at Polasek's request, it is still a move that would require waivers for it to be processed, ie. if any player wanted to claim him before he his contract was terminated, they would have to do that work on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning...

Tonight makes sense. But midnight is a weird time to lift it. Why not something like noon Eastern or something like that?

per Darren Dreger, Tampa puts P.C. Labrie on waivers.
