The Rangers couldn't have asked for a more dramatic way to begin 2007. Trailing the Devils 1-0 after one period, the Blueshirts battled back and took the lead only to squander a late tying powerplay garbage goal by Jamie Langenbrunner. Overtime passed, and the shootout went back and forth with several opportunities for both teams to close the door. Marcel Hossa scored with a fantastic move in the shootout's eighth round to finally end the action, giving the Rangers a well-deserved 3-2 win.

Its Gameday and as you can see i'm overamped for this. I figured i might as well get this up early, i had some extra time tonight.

Forget the lines... i didnt even begin to toy with those.

http://www.nhl.com/nhl/app/?service=...ticleid=287298

Quote:
"The Devils are on the way to their fifth-straight season of leading the NHL in fewest power plays allowed. They enter the weekend having allowed their opponents a league-low 153 power-play chances, 23 fewer than runner-up Tampa Bay, which has played 45 games.

The Devils have had a league-high 12 games in which they've allowed their opponents two power plays or fewer."

Also, wanted to talk about this a little. Yes, the Devils are a very disciplined bunch who adhere to a system, but i just think that with the reputation they've built they get the benefit of the doubt with calls too much. Call me jealous or whatever but i firmly believe this team gets away with a lot of penalties that would be called in any other game. I see it every meeting. Those stats are a stark difference from the rest of the league. But hey, i guess theyve earned it.

Gonna be a tough game. NJ is getting better and better as the season progresses. Brodeur is unconscious. Henke better be up to the task.

Lundqvist likely will be in net for New York on Tuesday.
He's won five straight against the Devils and is 5-0-1 with a 1.80 GAA in his career against them.

I hate to put this up and jinx him but i was surprised when i saw this, is that right? Obviously its just the regular season.

Those stats are right about Lundqvist. He's been extremely impressive against the Debbies in the regular season.

Very very nice work in this thread HB!

Nice extremely early GDT. I'm looking foward to this one, the Rangers could use another big win. Hopefully that'll happen Tuesday night. I've run out of things to say before a game and so I'll just say I hope we play like we did on Saturday. That was a fun game, nice to see such high emotion from the team, and the team actually playing as one. Here's to a good watch hopefully, LET'S GO RANGERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lets hope the Rangers take the initiative in hammering my new fave Devil to bemoan...the dreaded Pandolfo. He is a complete pain in the *** for Jagr and is just way to successful at neutralizing his game....

Unfortunately Nylander hasn't thown a check all season and Straka is too busy hitting net....

Someone needs to help free JJ from his shadow

Rangers simple MUST MUST MUST SHOOT THE PUCK

A LOT.....

Lots of shots makes Marty grumpy

LETS GO RANGERS

Due to my vacation, I haven't been able to watch a game since late December. I think the last game was the 27th or so. Needless to say, I'm ready to watch these guys again

LETS GO RANGERS

Exactly crash the net, crash the net, back up the reds in front, screen the hell out of Marty, and look for rebounds!

The next Renney brainchild is about to begin

Enter the era where Shanny is centered by Betts and has Hossa riding shotgun. Absolutely amazing. Way to put your team into a position for success, Tom. And where is Prucha, you might ask? Why on the 4th line off course, where he clearly belongs.

Yup, saw that-- lines are as follows:

Straka- Nylander- Jagr
Shanny- Betts- Hossa
Ortmeyer- Krog- Cullen
Prucha- hollweg- Orr/hall

Another interesting note- Jason ward was practicing defense with Kaspar-- not a very promising career move. found it on rangers.lohudblogs.com

Lets Go Rangers!! Would like to see strong offensive play from the Rangers, hope they dominate the offensive zone and back check hard. Should be a nice match up. It would be nice to see Hossa score a couple tonight.

Hbnyc...

reputation does precede yourself, but the Devils are more disciplined than, say, the Rangers, that's for sure. Reputation or not.
