Was hoping the Leafs would sign him to play with Brown in the AHL next year. Good pickup.

This is the scouting report according to hockeysfuture.com. This is from the beginning of the season.

Quote:
Fox was snubbed last year in the NHL Draft and may suffer a similar fate this year. He broke his foot over the summer and only returned midway through the season. He has solid offensive skills (as evidenced by his 19 goals and 36 points in 37 games), but needs to work on his defensive game.

He has good, but not great, speed and needs to improve on his first step and acceleration.

Damn, was hoping the Leafs would do this. Congrats Vancouver.

Might turn out to be nothing but he could become a decent 2nd liner you never know and it didn't cost anything except a bit of cash

Interesting player. Seems to have been passed on last 2 years because of 'off-ice issues' that he seems (?) to be over.

Crazy stats this year but his game sounds like a 3rd line agitator type with some skill. I read he had likened himself to Ott or Bolland.

Admittedly I haven't seen a second of ice time Dane has played this year. Sounds like he brings a little bit of grit to his game. He admits to like fighting but doesn't seem to have many.

Is he being towed along by Brown and company? If Anyone who watches him play could give a mini scouting report that would be awesome.

Thanks in advance.

Great signing Vancouver! As others have said, I was hoping the Leafs would grab him to continue playing with Brown. If he can continue to progress this is a big win for Vancouver. Got him early too, good job.

Always smart for teams to try and pick up free players who could turn into something. No risk. Hell, in the past few years the Flyers have picked up Bobrovsky, Read, Raffl, Gustafsson, Straka. Adding depth guys for no cost is always a good move and you might actually get a few goos players out of it.

low risk for potentially a huge gain. Glad the kid is finally getting a chance.
Even if he does not pan out it cost the Canucks nothing but some cash!
good job by the Canucks management.
I would also like to point out all the classy leafs fans!

I'm not sure why he would say that about himself when he's a poor defensive player.

would have been a 2nd or 3rd pick in the '12 draft had it not been for whatever happened in London.
