He has not been amazing... but he has not made any bad plays or anything. He was pretty much on a shutdown line with the two least talented players on the roster getting all the D zone draws today... and has been getting the most D draws each game with different linemates each game! Like if I had to guess his zone starts they would be ~40%.

He got an assist today on a shorty making a nice play to get it to Reinhart who set up Horvat beautifully... there was no play there if it were not for Laughton, not flashy but effective, and yet no credit on the board for it... he has also been pretty good on the PK IMO.

In three games he has only been on ice for 1 EV goal against, the first vs Sweden.

Drouin, McDavid, Horvat and Hudon are the only ones who have looked good really for any stretch.

The funniest was the insinuation he should not be on the team as he is a 'plug' and put in guys with more offensive talent.

They do realise that after Petan, Mantha and Drouin he has the most PPG of any other player on the WJC team don't they? On a Oshawa team that is ~average in scoring in the OHL? Plus he is one of the best two way guys in junior.

Then suggesting guys like Brown and Shinkaruk should be there... when on International ice their skating would be exposed... and skating is one thing they are already moaning about. They are getting on Gauthier so much for it... but Brown is worse and Shinkaruk just as - a skater as Gauthier.
They've got the thought process that kept us from the podium last season. Considering they're Oilers fans you could imagine how and why.

ADK lost 3-1 to Norfolk on Saturday after beating them the day before 5-4. I didn't get to see the game but Akeson scored the Phantoms lone goal. McGinn picked up an assist. Heeter took the lose, stopped 29 of 31 shots (empty net made it 3-1). That's 22pts now in 27 games for Akeson.

Heeter has actually been pretty solid for the Phantoms. He's got a .919 sv percentage in 18 games. At this point he'd probably be a better option then Emery.

Just saw someone suggesting Morin should have been on the team as they lack shutdown D. Happy as a Flyers fan that others think so highly of him... but I reckon there were about 12-14 D man in-front of him. Most of them rightly so at this stage... though his potential is scary and his O this year is really coming on like it promised too in the playoffs last year.

Yeah I don't get that either, bringing all-star teams every year with guys playing out of place hasn't exactly been working out lately for them.

It's only exhibition games, I think they can step away from the ledge for now. USA didn't exactly look stellar during these games last year & went on to win the whole thing.

Phantoms game vs Springfield. Alderson just scored on a nice pass from Cousins 2 minuters in.

Thanks for the stream. Nice save by Heeter on a one-timer to the slot.

ADK won 3-2 in the SO yesterday. Straka and Cousins both had 2 assists. Akeson and Flanagan were the only two phantoms to score in the nine round shootout. Luckily Heeter was able to make some saves for the win.

I said it before and I'll say it again, Heeter has been pretty damn good in ADK. In his 20 games he's posted a .923 sv percentage. Only 5 goalies have a better save percentage in the AHL and none have as many games played. One of those five is Martin Jones, the guy who just tied the NHL record for most wins to start a career at eight, of the LA Kings.

It feels very weird to have a good goaltending situation.

Mason in the running to be a Vezina candidate, he probably won't win, but he has been a bright spot for Philly this year.

Heeter playing fantastic in ADK

Stolarz playing backup goalie for USA in WJC and there is no shame in being behind Gillies, who has
future franchise goaltending written all over him.

Hagg was so freaking clutch in the game vs Finland

he robbed finland on the PK

10sec later he drew a penalty, so it became a 4on4

less than 30sec after the penalty De La Rose scored

Soft as heck hands.

In the two games he has been Swedens best defenceman. At times he is simply beastly.

Few guys who are fans of other teams over in the WJC thread raving about him.

Went to the Phantom Devils game last night, only phantom player I was impressed with was Alt. Akeson did not show me a thing, Mcginn looked decent but we know what he brings to the table already. I was in a box suite, their was a Winnipeg scout right in front of us. Mcginn for Kane. Book it.

Considering the team got shutout I'm not all that surprised no one outside of Alt made a good impression.

Akeson scored a PP goal on a nice one timer. 2-1 Phantoms after 2.

Union's last game was on December 14th & they don't play next until January 10th.

They've already played 18 of their 34 regular season games so far, that should shed some perspective on why the long breaks.
