Out of curiousity, if the Habs remain contenders, is there any potential at all for a Drury/Komisarek based deal? Picks and prospects and other supplements could be added and salaries need to be considered...but is there any basis for such a proposal??
It may be a good trade if the Habs were looking for immediate improvement but I think everyone is caught up in stanley cup fever and forgetting that we were only supposed to be rebuilding this year.(Youth Movement) I wouldn't touch Komi, He is a very important part of the Habs future, I see him being a solid No# 2 or 3 D-man in less than 3 years, we need these young guys for the future. I would not be willing to let go of any promising youngsters at this time .
Who exactly would we have on the right for the future? We have depth on D, but its very poor on the right. Behind Komisarek, Archer is our best right handed dman.
Drury is what we need and is a terrific playoff performer... but for Komi ? Man that would be a tough decision. How old is Drury?
We need Komisarek more then Drury and i'm sure Drury doesn't address the size issue so by doing this trade team gets old, defence gets thin for next year, and we lose big physical presence I wouldn't do it, Drury hasn't really helped sabres or last year Flames get into the playoff, remember guys playoffs are physical and you need atleast few big guys to get there, Komisarek is Future don't see any reason to change that, at forward position I would rather keep Balez then trade for yet more bodies, we already have too many players to work with.
Like who? Besides Komi and Hainsey, we don't have any future top 4's.
I definately wouldn't trade Komi for Drury. Komi will be a dominating player in this league for many years. Drury is a mid level top 6 forward who will get 20 goals and 50-60 pts a year, which is nothing spectacular. He's not even an improvement over Zed IMO.
I would say that there might be a few potential Drurys in the pipeline, but perhaps not even one Komisarek. We haven't any idea whether any D besides Hainsey is of future NHL quality. Big question marks about Shasby, Archer, O'Byrne, and Glenn, and Korneev is a runt compared with Komisarek,
Ask yourself this: are we going to contend for the cup? Any self-respecting hockey person says no, and therefore the mere implication of trading the future of our defence for Drury - okay, he's a great player - is ludicrous. Komi is the type of defender that's the hardest to find, and trading him away for playoff help, as implicated earlier on would be folly.
We may make a trade to help in the playoff run, but I see no reason to mortgage our futureat this point - at least not until we can seriously say the Cup is only a piece of the puzzle away.

That Fins prospect that was damn good
Kornev!
Markov is there for years anyway, we dont need 10 defencemans

and who said Korneev and the fin guy are sure bet, Komisarek has talent and already has big size combine two togather and you get exactly what habs need
Korneev was a 9th rounder, Korpikari a 7th rounder, hardly sure fire NHLers. Komi was 7th overall and is light years ahead of these guys, both in current development and upside.
And even putting aside defensive depth, I can't understand why anyone would want to trade Komi for a guy that hasn't even scored 25 goals in an NHL season.
im gonna have to see it to believe on komisarek because you guys talk him up like the second coming
every time i come to this board i leave thinking "damn, i gotta see komisarek play"

the fact is komi is still not ripe in the nhl, but he has size and and potential to be worth about 5X more valuable then drury in the future, thats why i wouldnt do it.
drury would only be a quik little fix here, while komi could end up being much more valuable asset.
Will Komisarek be sent down before the all-star break, so he can play in the AHL all-star? I really dont see the point of keeping him up for very much longer.
